How Much Should You Pay For a Website?
Do you just want Wordpress installed or do you want it configured? Wordpress takes less than 5 minutes to install. I'd charge you $50 a year to install and host a Wordpress blog for you allowing your bandwidth usage was not through the roof.
Configuring Wordpress is a different story altogether. There are 1000's of free themes and plugins floating around. Some of them can break the program. Very few themes can be installed and look great without hours of configurations, Do you want the blog to be SEO friendly? There are a few plugins that help with this but you still have to have the knowledge of what keywords and descriptions will work best for your particular situation. What will you do about backups? If you break the Wordpress instalation who's responsibility is it to fix it?
If you want Wordpress configuration, support & SEO package you could easily be looking at thousands of dollars. If all you want is hosting and a basic install it's less expensive than $50 and their are even places on the net where you can find it for free such as wordpress.org if you host on their servers. It all comes down to you get what you pay for and knowledge is power. If you do it all yourself it won't cost you anything but your time, but you may have to spend months learning what works and what does not. What's your time worth?Posted 16th February 2009 at 07:37 AM by rehoboth beach

Adding Monetization With Amazon
Kaizersuzi
I haven't added an about me page because I haven't gotten around to it yet. This site is a demo/semi serious build. I work on it between other projects. Its not top priority for me right now so there are lots of things that should or could be on that site but aren't yet.
As for Virtuamart. Thats for selling your own products not someone else's. Like if you wanted to have a store of your own products for sale.
The Amazon "store" you saw on my site is controlled totally by Amazon. Non of those features are actually on my site. I created that using a frame (wrapper).
There are other pieces of software that work really well with Joomla if you promote other physical products . You can see how I did it on one of my other sites Its A Halloween Thing - Halloween Costumes for adults, infants & pets | Ghost Stories & morePosted 15th January 2009 at 09:55 PM by Debbie Songster

What Should I Sell?
Building a real internet business is what it looks like you're after. Profitability and sustainability. Research and planning are key. Talk to people who have done it. They'll be happy to give back.Posted 15th January 2009 at 09:26 PM by glofish

joomla - Google Video
@Debbie
Hi Debbie,
Interesting video. Make things look a lot easier. I've grown a long beard
working for the last 3 weeks on my first website. As I have no web dev experience I decided to go with joomla. after the video, I had a look at your site. Looks good almost what I had in mind. however, from my reading, I learnt that adding an About Us page looks more professional and give better impression to visitors. But with someone of ur stature u must have a good reason why not include one. Can u please give me a hint.
Another thing, yesterday, I discovered Virtuamart. I found that it make it easy to add products to the site. I was going to use it with amazon products, but I didn't know howto. Now, after I saw ur video..it is the wrapper that looks more suitable. But just for the sake of my curiosity. Did u try virtuamart?
One last question. Can I add products from other merchants to a website built for amazon aff program?
ThanksPosted 15th January 2009 at 07:19 PM by Kaizersuzi

Adding Monetization With Amazon
Nspire - I'm working on more videos right now. Do you have a specific topic or request?
bobmcalister - probably the best place to put amazon stuff on wordpress is on the side bars. Use an html widget for that.
On the part of the video where I grab the code there is the code that automatically puts it in an iframe - try that. I haven't tried it - yet
Sounds like I should do another video - huh?Posted 12th January 2009 at 11:30 AM by Debbie Songster

Adding Multimedia
Joomla Video Plugin Questions
Hi Debbie...
I clicked the link you provided, but there are quite a few plugins. Maybe I missed it, but which one specifically are you using?
Also, does this plugin work with videos you host on your site, or feed it to your visitors from another site?
Thanks!
