Leadership Development Plan

Leadership Development Plan: I currently attended a leadership meeting with my fellow co-workers with this energy deregulation business I own. There was a speaker there who spoke about how to be a better leader to your prospects. So he showed us this pyramid & told us that in order to begin by:
developing leadership skills we MUST understand the needs of our prospects.
Growing up from newborn stage we all know that we need the basic: Hunger, thirst, air, & Sleep. This is a simple step that we come to easily understand as we grow and continue with our lives. So this is baby stuff. I read this article that stated:
According to Maslow’s theory, if such needs are not satisfied then one’s motivation will arise from the quest to satisfy them. Higher needs such as social needs and esteem are not felt until one has met the needs basic to one’s bodily functioning.
Safety Protection & Security:

So after the basic step of understanding the needs of our prospects is protection. That’s the first thing in developing a leadership skill. Because we can be able to understand that we need help our prospects feel security & safety. This is a normal human need that we all strive and seek for. If we want to help them & show them that we can deliver them from a financial stress life they live then we need to provide security & protection, or should I say TRUST. We can’t rescue those who don’t want to be rescued. However this is were we LOSE OUR PROSPECTS at the VERY FIRST STEP after the basic SIMPLE NEEDS! For those that have ZNZ, think to your self: how many prospects did I lose due to this step? . . . . . . . Did we lack the beginning development of leadership skills?
\
Social needs: a sense of belonging:

would be the next logical step. We often give up on things in life that we feel that we are not good enough for or can’t do. We have no sense of belonging and can’t strive to continue because we have lost this in ourselves. We all need to feel like we belong somewhere. Take this into consideration once you have succeeded of getting over the first step. Have you ever been in a group of friends and just had that one friend that was the odd ball of the bunch, & the following week never showed up again? hmm…
Esteem recognition status:

“Once a person feels a sense of “belonging”, the need to feel important arises. Esteem needs may be classified as internal or external. Internal esteem needs are those related to self-esteem such as self respect and achievement. External esteem needs are those such as social status and recognition. Some esteem needs are:
  • Self-respect
  • Achievement
  • Attention
  • Recognition
  • Reputation
Maslow later refined his model to include a level between esteem needs and self-actualization: the need for knowledge and aesthetics.”-Maslow. So We need to make sure our prospects are uplifted and recognized for the things that they have accomplished. Let’s not be negative and push away, or be boastful and discourage them. Rather uplift and give recognition so that the next need may arise.

Self Actualization:

Once you can hit this step you have fully come to know who you are && the FULL potential stored within yourself & your prospects. You will be able to have your prospects reach this stage and succeed like no one else!
Self-actualized persons have frequent occurrences of peak experiences, which are energized moments of profound happiness and harmony. According to Maslow, only a small percentage of the population reaches the level of self-actualization.
Once this step has been mastered, then you have fully mastered the Leadership development plan!
