Success and Suffering

In church today, my Pastor talked about one of the keys to success which in his estimation (and he was quoting) is a willingness to undergo suffering. I thought about that with respect to a gentleman whose thread I read today about having quit his job. I gave him advice that I need to take heed of myself.

All of us have to decide on what we want and how bad we want it. I think we all agree that internet marketing, as a trade, can work for many of us. But just like carpentry and any other trade, there is learning what to do, learning how to earn money and finally learning how to make it your business and/or vocation. You do not get to the last stage fast without giving up something.

I have been talking about formulas on my Blog Talk Radio show, called "The Midnight Oil" and have come to understand this:

There is little success without sacrifice.

There is little sacrifice without suffering.

There is little suffering without loss.

So what are we willing to lose in order to gain the end of our dreams. For some of us, it really takes deciding that this is not gonig to be a hobby and that we are going to stay on the horse until we get where we are going.

I think that is what it takes to be successful in IM.

Charles great post. I need to remember what you said but also make sure that I don't sacrifice the most important things in life... my relationships (my wife, my child, friends, etc.).
