PAID TRAFFIC Vs FREE/EFFORT Traffic
Paid traffic is traffic that you pay for, for example Adwords where you pay for adverts on googles’ front page which sends you traffic to your website.
This is quick traffic and you can receive targeted traffic in as soon as 10 minutes
Buying Solo ads is another form of buying traffic where you sent a marketer a solo ad which they endorse/send out to their email list.
Free traffic on the other hand which you can create by creating articles, creating blog posts, creating videos etc which can all link to your product page. This kind of traffic can take time, weeks and even months to generate traffic to your website.
So you can pay for quick traffic, or create traffic which can take time to come to you. (there are some exceptions)

Paid traffic is great if you can learn the tricks and where to advertise before you go through your budget. Another thing that you omitted is that once your paid ad is done it will never get you any more traffic.
With SEO using articles and blogs they may take a month or two to get ranked but then they can get you traffic and leads for one or two years.
Everyone has their own choice on how to do it but you need some article marketing and blogging even if you are doing paid advertising so your name gets branded.
