Fonts online and their readability

Serif fonts like Times New Roman that have added structural elements to the letters end strokes increase their readability in print publication but studies show that Sans Serif fonts like Arial are easier to read on line. Basically because Serif fonts are not legibly read at small font sizes, under 12 pt.

Newspapers use serif fonts extensively, and since they are easier on the eyes in general on line they can also be used successfully provided the font size starts from 12pt and above....
