Not sure what to think of Twitter yet?
Can’t say as I blame you. Especially since it seems that most people approach Twitter rather haphazardly.
However, if you treat Twitter as seriously as you treat your business it can be the best thing since sliced bread. Who made sliced bread the measurement of success anyway? Everyone knows its no good till toasted. Nonetheless, I digress.
If you focus on building a targeted Twitter following you will find this social network far and above better than any other you have ever spent time with.
No matter if your focus is
* Business
* Politics
* Religion
* Or just pure fun
Twitter is where you need to be.
Perhaps that’s why it is the fastest growing social network ever.
Last January I made my debut on Twitter.
It seemed daunting.
It seemed formidable.
It seemed unforgiving.
It was Twitter.
Now just a short 6 months later, I look back thankful for having made the long trek through no-man’s land.
One of my many secrets to success was focusing on a targeted Twitter following.
I did this using several tools.
Twitter Grader gave me the ability to search people that were targeting my desired keywords in their bio’s. Once these individuals were identified I could follow them and then look through their followers understand the whole principle of birds, feathers and flocks.
NOTE: Through your bio together whimsically and you might as well through your computer clean out the window. I cover this point in a separate article.
Twitter Karma helps keep game players off my profile, not to mention those silly little bots. See, using this tool I hone down my followers on Twitter by only continuing to follow those who are actively posting on Twitter as well as those who follow me back. I’ll have nothing to do with those silly little follow – follow back – unfollow games in my own Twitter sphere.
TweetDeck gives me the ability to administer my tweets in a very convenient easy to work with manner. Not only that, but with the latest release I can now monitor multiple accounts in one screen. Sweet!
Yes, there are a number of tools to help you create a targeted Twitter following. Not to mention Twitter itself with its own built in search capabilities, save search options and hashtag awareness.
Twitter is indeed quite the tool when used correctly. And when used incorrectly it is quite the pain in the… carry on.
