There has been a ton of talk lately about the right amount of SEO, and about the dangers of over optimization. This has reached near fanatical proportions, with some of the most hysterical even proclaiming the use of keywords at all verboten, and say the only link building that is valid is link earning. Crazy.
What Is The Right Amount Of SEO?
This is a cool dilemma. Of course we have statistics concerning recommended keyword densities from 4-7%, and we have LSI(latent Semantic Indexing) for related keywords, but where do we draw the line? Should we fail to describe our pictures with the fear that using a keyword could penalize our site? Should we make our site less accessible by not including titles on links in navigation?
The answer is not a simple formula. Of course, every SEO company has a different opinion on the Google algorithm, based on observations and conjecture, right or wrong. My personal opinion is that you are able to keep penalties at bay for over optimization and excessive anchor text if you mitigate it by:

- Age Of Domain
- Age Of Content
- Domain Rank and Page Rank
- Page Load Speed
