I had a very interesting selling conversation the other day where the client really deserved an Oscar for the way she was presenting how much she likes my work, how interested she is in working with me…and of course needed just little more information, just little more taste of coaching to hire me… I think she got surprised that I didn’t fall into that but what I know for sure is that she doesn’t have a clue that there are 4 other types of prospects like her for which I have a scripted...

1. Market on what the client needs not what the client wants
Let me explain this with an illustration. No client of yours will wake up in the morning thinking I want more balance in life. They need balance but they don’t necessarily want it. They may want – more time for themselves and their family, less stress from work, etc. If you send your marketing message with the slgan: More balance in life, chance is- your target market will not understand what you mean.

Whether you connect with your clients face to face or on the phone, you are trading time for money as your clients pay you by the hour (or however you structure your billable time). That for a beginner is usually priced very reasonable as while the practitioner gets well...

Clients hire you because they trust that you can help them (that’s the real secret behind the amazing race to become an expert in what you offer) and because they have a good feeling about you. In fact how what you offer makes them feel about themselves as a result of what they expect to get is THE reason why they hire you. Their expectations are:

If they only had the time to do all that they are hiring you to help them to figure out or do,...

I called my dad earlier, and we continued the conversation in emails. We’d been crabbing about Microsoft, and it surprised him when I said I got mad at Microsoft when they forced us to go straight into Windows, completely bypassing DOS. How was I going to get straight to what I wanted, and wanted to do?

Funny how I wouldn’t have too much of a clue with DOS now..

He was surprised because he thought I was too young to know about DOS. This was part of my reply....
