Go to college..?

I think the important thing is to GO TO college – it’s the journey not the destination – not the bit of paper at the end.

Leave school at 18, move away from your parents’ home, be self sufficient, study for something that interests you at a higher level – these are the important qualities that allow you to be self sufficient and run your own business.

I know people I was at school with who dropped out at 16 to get the JOB who, when we came back two or three years later (depending whether you drop out or stay to graduate) were still living with their parents and doing crap low paid jobs since their early twenties.

So, if you want to graduate and get a good start in a business – a JOB that is –and work your way up – that will give you a good career.

However dropping out TOO early will leave you in nothing but a JOB.

Also, I know plenty of professional people – doctors and lawyers and stockbrokers in London – who are in JOBs, but make 6 figure incomes. There are also plenty of YOBers – sole traders such as mechanics or landscape gardners who will never make that kind of money.

So I can conclude that EDUCATION is important, but not the bit of paper at the end. The significant factor in the people you refer to above is that that HAD education – even though they dropped out before graduation to start their own business.

You have to be IN before you can DROP OUT.
