Mind Set

One of the most misunderstood areas of business, in my opinion, is “mindset”. Many people set out to start a business with good intentions but 99% of all start-up businesses fail within the first year or two. Why? Mindset!

People see the potential to make a lot of money and therefore "jump in" to claim their fortune. Six months down the road, when the big checks aren't just flying in, they get angry and start throwing blame around faster than they throw away their money.
Anyone who has achieved success in business will tell you it is not easy. In fact, if they tell you otherwise, I would begin to question the authenticity of their claims. We have all seen the people that appear to make money no matter what they do; it seems unfair that they never fail. Well, the truth is, what you don't see, they have spent many sleepless nights and hours studying, learning and putting a plan together; then something magical happens...they actually TAKE ACTION!

Without fail, if you ask these people what they would recommend to get started, they would probably tell you to sit down and write down your goals; not just think about them but physically write them out. I refer to mine daily and it helps me to remain focused and motivated; something happens to your mindset that takes you to a different level.

I knew most of my life that I didn't want to work for "the man" for the rest of my life, so I set out to find a way to accomplish that. I come from humble blue collar lineage and am grateful to have learned that work ethic, but I didn't want to end up broken down and too tired to enjoy my retirement years or have enough money to even experience it.

So in closing, you have to want it! You have to blast through the barriers…you know, fear of failure, fear of success, overcoming obstacles, learning from mistakes, pressing on even when you don’t really feel it, staying focused and not chasing shiny objects – well, you get the picture.
Being driven doesn’t mean running over everyone and everything in front of you, it means moving forward in spite of the situation. So press on! Someday you’ll make it look easy!
