You have undoubtedly learned tons of priceless information over the course of your IM journey. However, whether you are browsing forums, testing strategies or achieving your goals, one of the keys of Internet marketing is knowing the latest trends and stay on top of changes in your market. This means you are constantly searching for the next best thing.

While there is nothing wrong with this, it can be the downfall of many Internet marketing careers. What starts as optimizing results and improving earnings turns into reliance on expensive software suites and dependence on fads and shortcuts that will one day surely fail. All it takes it one update or one bad decision to grind your progress to a halt. Even worse, it can destroy everything you have worked to create.

Whether you are looking at WSO’s or services on another site, you should always consider what the benefits are and why you really need this new shiny object. Sure, the website or sales copy is telling you why you need it.

Take a moment to stop and think…
  • How did you find this service?
  • What were you looking for when you started?
  • What were you hoping to gain?
  • How is this going to achieve results for you?
You would be surprised how many shiny object binges start on one topic or tool and end hundreds of dollars later on a completely irrelevant site. Just because you are a master of creating hype and selling products, does not mean you are immune to the same strategies that line your pockets.

You start seeing potential, plans start swirling around your head and next thing you know you are the proud owner of 7 pieces of software. Three of them do the same thing. Two of them do nothing at all. One of them will get you sandboxed. Take a moment to step back and analyze what you are investing in and why before you succumb to the next shiny object you consider. It just might make the difference between success and failure.
