The One Downside To Article Syndication

Syndication is a great thing. It is good for branding, recognition, SEO and SEM because you get backlinks and it is essentially free advertising because you are using content that you wrote so you can make it a little self serving. However, there is a downside to syndication in terms of SEO and SEM.
Any time a webmaster launches a new website, one of the first thing they do is focus on on-site SEO. Why is this? Well, the obvious answer is because of the fact that they want to rank well in search engines. TheBitBot dot com gets the majority of its traffic from Google. Many websites fit the exact same scenario.
No matter how much social bookmarking you do, no matter how many forums you post on so as to advertise with your signature link, no matter how many high traffic blogs you comment on to get people to click on your name, all of these combined, especially if you are doing them yourself cannot compete with search engine traffic. That is the reason why good, solid SEO is so important. And, the traffic is highly targeted too...
