Hello,

For those encountering me for the first time, I'll try not to make it like the 5th sequel to "Alien" but most folks think I am a bit of strange bird.

Indeed, some friends of mine in Vancouver decided, upon hearing all of the strange ventures and adventures I was involved in that I must be, "The Renaissance Man from Calgary". I've had over 40 different jobs (for these purposes "job" means something someone paid actual money for my labor, except the "cowboy" job which was actually herding, feeding cattle and loading bales of hay, for which I received "room and board" one Summer). I have lived in 26 different places at last count, visited 4 continents, and after some 17 years of formal education have taught (for pay) classes from kindergarten to 12th grade and some college level (and commercial/technical) courses. I have written 3 books, and published 4. I have held licenses in the fields of real estate and securities, and they told me I had the highest score on the NASD Series 7 licensing exam "ever" (meaning "since they made it a lot harder") at Charles Schwab in 2001. I have also been an actor, ballet dancer, cabaret bouncer, harpsichord mover, editor, film editor (actually an "assistant" editor credit), director, producer, clown, ghost writer, editorial columnist, author, agricultural worker, house painter, baby sitter and school nurse (okay, "substitute school nurse").

If all of that sounds like bragging, it probably is. I am proud of my accomplishments, small though they may be. For that, a lot of people think I am arrogant, pompous and egotistical, which is all true to some extent I am sure.

I have been married to the same wonderful woman, Maggie, for the last 27 years, and I credit her with much of what I have become during that time.

I am currently engaged in developing a business around "green" fuels, and have filed a patent application for an algae cultivation system that concentrates the amount of algae which can be grown in a given area of land (or sea, for that matter). Many of the thousands of varieties of microalgae need little more than light and carbon dioxide to grow. Some of them double their population every 24 hours or less, and many of these also have a substantial percentage of oil content, from which we can make fuels. It is a fairly exciting field to be involved in. If you want to find out a LOT about algae and biodiesel, visit my site at Dao Chi Energy (a div. of Winfotech) - Index to American Chronicle Articles by Stafford "Doc" Williamson - (that's "the Energy Circus") or more specific information at DaoChi Energy Presents: MAKING BIODIESEL at HOME KIT -

But none of that is why I decided to "blog" within the Warriors forum. I wrote this "letter to the editor" and I wanted to "share" it with the kind of folks who inhabit the Warriors Forum, because they have a wide sphere of influence on other people. (I apologize, I'm a smart guy, but I'm a poor proof-reader, not a good trait for a former "editor".)

Please take a minute to read it, and pass along a copy if you like.

Subject: Obama Dream Speech - You and Me, and No Bush Three

I had a dream the other night. It may not have been as noble or memorable as the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., it was a dream about living in a country where our country's leader was an inspiration to me, an inspiration to all of us. A real inspirational figure, not some swaggering cowboy warrior with a shoot-first and ask questions only if you are forced to do so attitude. Someone who can actually pronounce “nuclear” and doesn’t think the word is “new-kew-lar”. (Gov. Palin recently disqualified herself on that count.) I awoke with the hope that my dream might very soon come true because in that dream Senator Barack Obama was telling the nation and the world in plain and simple language his vision for a better future for all of America. In simple declarative sentences he was telling people the core of his platform in words anyone would understand.

What he was saying in my dream sounded something like this:

I told you during my acceptance speech in Denver this election is not about me!
This election is about you!
This election is about you placing your trust in someone who will give you a better future than you've had in the last eight years under George Bush.
I can help give that to you.
But this campaign is about you!
You have to step up and do your part.
You have to take responsibility for your part.
You want lower taxes?
I'll give you lower taxes.
A lot better education for your kids?
I'll see to it that they get a better education.
If they're willing to step up and do their part, they'll get help getting a higher education, too.
You want better jobs?
You want better, cheaper, cleaner energy?
Do you want to bring our troops home from Iraq, and have a strong and secure military here in America?
You can have that!
You can make it happen!
It's not going to happen without you.
But I need your help.
I need your help by electing Democratic Senators.
I need your help by electing a Democratic Congress.
You need to elect yourselves a strong Democratic Congress and Senate!
I can't do that for you. You have to do that for yourselves, but if we all step up and do our share it won't be too hard. You can do it!
Can't you?
And while you're at it, it would be nice if you put a Democrat in the White House.
We need to change Washington and you can do it. And I promise to be there to help.
You give me a strong Democratic Congress, a partisan-roadblock proof majority in the Senate, and you can have it all.
You give me four years in the White House, and with the help of Senator Joe Biden as my Vice President ... and with the help and advice of Senator Hilary Clinton, and former President Bill Clinton, we'll give you a different kind of government.
We'll give you a country that is a shining example of the road to a greener, healthier future, not more of the same oil company dominated past.
We'll give you the growth and stimulus of clean and green transportation that will spread the wealth and prosperity across this land. Solar energy, Wind power, geothermal power, we don't need to bring back old technologies, we need to do what America does best, create and innovate new technologies and export them to the world. Share our future prosperity with all our neighbors all over the world, and make them our partners in defeating the evil doers who want anything less than peace and health and prosperity for all people.
You want lower taxes?
You can do it!
You want better education?
You can do it!
You want better health care?
You can do it!
You want better jobs, jobs with a future in a cleaner, greener world?
You can do it!
You make all the decisions. You have to do the work, too. You are the ones who will live with the consequences. Do you want those consequences to be FOUR MORE YEARS of BUSH's FAILED ECONOMIC AND FOREIGN POLICIES?
Then let's do it together.
You and me, and no Bush three.

Sincerely,
Stafford "Doc" Williamson
