Please review our landing page: what are we doing wrong?

Although the text is in the German, it is pretty easy to guess what it's all about:

We are the developers of an all-in-one POS app for the iPad, enabling retailers to take care of a lot of "difficult" tasks through one app: cash registry, stock management, selling products on eBay and in their own online shop, bookkeeping and CRM. A lot of good stuff, for only €29 per month.

But: conversion rates are poor (4% of the visitors sign up for a trial account). I have the feeling we are overlooking something small yet very important, something that makes me go "Doh.. of course we should have included that!".

    Good looking site but it looks so... I don't know, empty?

    I don't think your title and subtitle give enough information of your service nor they are benefit based. I believe you need to test different headlines.

    As it comes to your design, I can scroll your page to sideways, it doesn't fit to my browser (Google Chrome, on Macbook Pro 13'), I believe it causes amateur look.

    I also would test the image, there is an ipad with some stuff in it, maybe a human design would do better.

    And I would also go with a little more information about product, some testimonials and other trust signals.

    Do some split testing, try a few different designs.

    I'm using firefox browser -and note that your optin is not aligned correctly as it overlaps the title... Looks like you are using floating elements... A quick fix could be to use a table (no borders) and insert the ipad image in one cell and in the other place the optin part...

    That aside it looks good but thin on content.. There is always room for improvement... I would make the top part a full width slider, a would provide user testimonials, some more detail/benefits of your product... Make the blurb boxes have links to pages with more details... Show some more screen shots of your products... And finally some info to describe who you are and why the reader should choose you.......... and provide details for customer support... If you can I would add online chat with a tab that expands - which is located on the right side or the bottom right corner... Hope that helps!

    I would not create any links, as I don't want people to navigate away, really :-)

    Also thinking of using an "email only" sign up form... Anyone ever tried that, vs. a regular sign up form? Did you notice an increase in conversion?

    In theory, less form fields should lead to more conversions, however sometimes people get frustrated because it is too easy, too few information you need. It may look spammy. The thing is you can never know. It is always best to test. However, if I were you, I wouldn't concentrate on this for now, you have bigger issues to solve. I always suggest my clients to work on value proposition and website flow.

    We updated the landing page, and are currently testing three versions. A/B/C, each version only slightly different from the other.

    It converts a lot better (4%), although we now have the feeling that people might not be ready yet to engage.. What do you think?

    The site looks professional. Good. I like your barcode logo in the left corner. But there are little things that you need to corect. On the page Preise the buttons Kostenlos testen are not horizontally alligned. It would look better if they were alligned. On the hardware page there is so much space under the printer. Maybe change the font size of the text?

    Are you driving traffic to your landing page through PPC text ads or banners too? Are you displaying the cost of your product in the text ads/banners?

    This will reduce traffic, but increase your conversion rate.
