Split Testing $97 vs. 47, 77, 67 for Membership Site
Share on:

So I finally know how to split test (thank God), but I dunno which prices to start with.

My site is currently doing well at $97/month in the business school tutorial niche, but I wanna test against other monthly fees.

I don't get that much traffic (although I monetize well), so I can't simply try all prices. I need to select some good price "candidates."

Any suggestions?

It will be highly appreciated

Hey!

Split testing is a great way to stop doing what does not work and do more of what does
so greatness on you getting up to speed! My thought would be stick with the "7s" as
the ending number.. just because I've always heard that and done it :- )

But when I have something that is working.. and I'm doing a split test on pricing, I split
test up... WAY UP... to counter this, drop in a downsell at a reduced rate... then you
can "catch" the people that you lost due to your outrageous pricing :- )

Typically, this kind of testing, has helped me to make more and to find out what
price is working best TA-Day... and I don't lose much if any, and truth be known, the
larger up front price coupled with the down sell price, usually makes More!

If you have $97.. try double. I went from a 197 price to 900 on one product and
sold a bunch of them and was like.. OH MAN IS THAT BETTER OR WHAT?

just saying... hope this gave you food for thought.

CU

Thanks!

@Paul Congrats on your 197 to 900, WOW.

I did think about that... I did try $137 and $197 before but no one bought (at all), although it was not in a "split test". Will think of how to implement that.

Anyone with ideas as to what price to test "lower"?

Do you have any OTO's in place that could help drive up some additional sales or a just a single monthly fee? The only other one I'd vouch for would probably be the 67 a month. 47 is a common price point, but you mentioned that you don't get much traffic so you want to take into consideration how much you're putting back in the business in terms of traffic.

If you have a responsive audience, then I'd personally survey them and find out what would help them. Put something together and sell it as a one time fee, get some feedback, make adjustments if any and then use that as either a one time offer or use it to upsell their current monthly service.

I do have one time offers in place... get the video plan and then can get the ebook set for $97 instead of $486... with downsell points of less ebooks in the set for 47 and 29.95.

Surveying, well, all they'll say is that they'll definitely buy more if it's cheaper; which is untrue (I used to sell much less units at 99cents and 3.99 long ago!!). Note that this isn't the IM niche.

So, $67 is better to test than $47 or $77?

Cheers
