Hey guys, we've got an online gold buying website based in Canada and are having problems with conversions. I would like to get some opinions here by some professional marketers who specialize in Conversion rate optimization, or that have some experience in this market. We're trying to figure out if it is our Adwords campaign or the website that's the issue. Thoughts? Thank you. Here's the website: Cash For Gold | Sell Gold For Cash at Gold Pal Canada |

Not enough info to diagnose. What's your traffic source? How pre-qualified is it? Are you certain it's 100% CANADIAN traffic? What volume are you getting? What conversion ratio where you expecting? How realistic is that? What options do you have for conversion? How many touch points? Have you split test anything? Long way to go here. First impressions... Pretty enough... I'd change the word "Order" in the box headline. The kit is free, so maybe "Get". "Order" implies an action, a decision, and that's scary. Especially to cash-desperate people who might have some gold to trade. Then the main message of the site. It's there, but hidden. I'd bring it out front: This is for Canadians who want to change their gold or other valuables into CASH and get it within 24 hours. Next, your opt in is below the fold. I know you have a button in the center up top, but I missed it the first couple viewings. There's a lot going on here. The Turn Your Gold To Cash And Get It Within 24 Hours thing is what I'd put right in the visitor's face. |

We're getting only about 6-7 clicks a day, because our budget is $20 and our clicks are very expensive. (Personally, I think that could be one of our mistakes, because we're not getting much exposure?) I was expecting about a 4%-8% conversion ratio from Google Adwords because I think our site is higher in quality than our competitors. Not sure though. We only have one option for conversion, and that is to request a jewelry return kit. Don't know what you mean by touch points? And no, we have not done any serious split testing. We split tested ads of course but not really the website. Thank you for those suggestions, we actually had build a different version to split test against the current home page, which has the form all the way up at the top with a similar headline to what you suggested but it had much worse engagement. We didn't split test for conversions because with our minimal traffic it would take ages. I think we could do better in designing the second page though.

Also, do you guys think the site speed is ok? I checked it in Google Developers and it got a pretty low score. What about any big guarantees, testimonials or pricing information? Do you think not specifying prices is a major cause for concern? Thanks.

You definitely need to find a higher volume of traffic. This is not enough to test anything and it's going to take you forever to learn what works. When I do my coaching calls, the #1 issue my clients have when we first meet is totally insufficient traffic to reach their money target. |

We were actually getting conversions at one point, and it was going pretty well, but then we decided to raise our bids drastically and keep the same $20 budget. That's when we saw a drop in conversions I think. I had someone looking over the campaign and did not notice this.

But #1, find a good pre-qualified traffic source. That's most important.
