Hey, has anyone here tested Paypal and Stripe as payment options? Does one convert any better than the other?

I've tested both on my membership site, though I don't know if I ran a big enough test. Paypal still did better in my experience. Mostly because of their pre-existing user base and the ease of use. Stripe is "sexier" but Paypal converts because of ease and familiarity.

I haven't used Stripe myself, but I would assume Paypal, mostly because PP has been out longer and more people are aware of it.

I have used both for like 2 years. I started using Stripe when I got lots of people telling me that having Stripe can increase the conversion rates significantly. I used both Stripe and PayPal but personally haven't felt any significant difference in the conversion rates. Moreover, when I started using Stripe, I started to get far more disputes and credit card fraud complains than when I used PayPal. In my opinion, PayPal has far more authentic user-base because most of the buyers on the platform have account at PayPal compared to Stripe where anyone with credit card can simply pay. Currently we are offering our users both PayPal and Stripe as the payment option, we give people an option to choose to pay based on their convenience. |

I think PayPal is more reliable. Because they have been around far longer than the others, people are more familiar and at ease with their platform.

In my experience Paypal is better, simply because people are really familiar with it.

I have to agree. Paypal can be a hassle to deal with but it's still more familiar and easier for clients. I would really like to stop dealing with Paypal altogether to be honest. |

Stripe is growing to fast now. PayPal is too old but popular because they support all over the world dislike Stripe that only support some countries. So be careful if you are going to sell your product to all over the world if you use Stripe. |

PayPal has lots of hassle & less seller protection than buyers. I like to work with Stripe than PayPal. You can use the 3rd party solution like 2CO (2checkout.com) Regards! |

So I tested tested both payment options during a recent product launch. My order page is built with Clickfunnels and I had Stripe as the main payment option(2-step order from). Below the stripe order form there was a prominent 'Checkout with Paypal' button. The results? Orders from Stripe - 82% Orders from Paypal - 18% Some factors that may have led to this: * The stripe payment option was presented above the PayPal one *The stripe payment option had the headline 'Checkout with Stripe using credit card' *The paypal one had the headline 'Or click below to Checkout with Paypal' *The audience was global. So to conclude, include both if you can. If I had to choose between Stripe or Paypal, I would choose Stripe mainly because of the hassle free experience. I just got a notification from PayPal saying that my account is frozen and they need to confirm my ID. I need to mail them documents. Meanwhile, the money is stuck there and I can't issue refunds. This is something you don't want to face during a launch and I've heard of others facing the same issue with PayPal as well, especially if your account is new. |

Everyone has paypal so it's easier for them - the more difficult you make it, if they have to sign up for an account, etc, the less they'll be inclined to use it. People are also wary of inputting card details to websites - they don't associate Paypal as being the same thing. I did a test of Google wallet vs Paypal and using paypal resulted in a 250% increase in sales. Paypal, sadly, wins hands down - I say sadly because they are a bunch of crooks who will shut your account down and keep your money for 6 months (had this happen - and you have to apply to get your money or they keep it), or put you on 21 days before funds clear (just had this happen - out of the blue for no reason, hardly any chargebacks but suddenly can't get my money for 21 days+ - AND they then take 48 hoursto transfer money to your account). There's no one to speak to - well no one who cares, so you really are in the hands of the Gods with them - but if you want maximum sales it's got to be Paypal. |

It's depend on user's need, but I think no payment method better than Paypal today, since they have a great protection for customer account. Stripe or the others maybe faster payment but not as protective as Paypal, and they also new, need a long time to gain people trust.
