Looking for Pointers or Criticism

Greetings,

I'm pretty new to this forum, but have been freelance writing for some time now. Up till very recently I was working with various providers that outsourced articles to me, however I am now trying to set out on my own.

To this end, I've established a website and am now trying to find clients. So far I've had a couple of great successes in that regard, a bit of praise here and there, and absolutely no complaints at all.

That said, I do wonder if I could improve on the writing that I can offer my clients. Every day I spend a few hours studying various writing techniques and so on, in order to better myself.

In line with that, I was hoping that perhaps by posting here I could receive some direct pointers and/or criticism of my writing. Be brutal if you must, I would rather hear it from you guys than deliver unsatisfactory articles to a client.

If you do not mind doing so, a link to my website is in my signature.

Thank you in advance,

-Vish.

Evidently while I try to be a competent writer, I should be trying to be more competent at linking. Sorry, it should be fixed now.

Vish - just a minor marketing point perhaps, but you really should have your own site/domain name

          Eric,

I must admit I'm not well versed on the finer points of marketing, and the site isn't fully as I would like it yet. At various points I have considered using my own domain name, however what I am unsure as to what the advantages of doing so would be.

What I'm trying to say is: Why is a domain name a good idea from a marketing point of view?

          Thanks for the advice,

          -Vish.

First of all because it's more professional. It's the difference between a flea market table and an actual store front.

Second of all, because a SE is much more likely to list you higher if you have your own domain name. Type in zephyr writing, and I don't see you anywhere on the front page.

Well... when you put it that way I guess I've been a complete dolt not to register it up to now.

Thank you, that mistake is now corrected. (or at least I've bought the domain name)

              Edit: Done! Thanks Eric.

That was a good choice to get your own domain name. It amazes me time and time again how someone will put how they are making 10's of thousands of dollars a month on a free domain page. If you are making that kind of money shouldn't you be able to afford a 10 dollar domain name and 5 bucks a month for hosting?

Too true Jason, unfortunately I'm not an affluent internet marketer that is raking in cash. In fact, I'm not an internet marketer (per se), and I'm not raking in cash anyway.

I've realized (somewhat belatedly), that I should possibly not have posted this thread in this particular forum, and for that I apologize.

Thanks again for the comments though. What Eric said appears to have really helped.
