Let say you sold hundreds of drop ship items the day you started marketing it.. But this supplier happened to be a scam and didn't send out a single one?

Whats next?

Well, you'd be out a ton of money, facing tons of chargebacks and lose the ability to process orders.

Of course, you mitigate such a disaster by only using reputable suppliers. The best way to do that is by ordering products, yourself, from them to see the quality of their merchandise and shipping time frames. You don't necessarily have to order everything from each supplier but you should order a couple of things from each.

If you don't do that, the only other thing you can do is to check their reputation. If you are using AliExpress, you can make sure you only use suppliers with at least one diamond or crown (crowns are better than diamonds and the more of either, the better). You can also look at the Feedback on their prodcuts to see if there is an abundance of red flags and, if you are shipping to the USA, only use ePacket for shipping so that items arrive more quickly and have a tracking number.

If you are not using AliExpress, I guess you'll need to enter their company name along with the word "scam" in a Google search.

So..do if you want to sell a product for the first time, do you have to order it yourself first from manufacture and wait 20 days IF...IF they have no rating?

But if they have 2 diamonds/ 2 crowns minimum, go right ahead and put your order page live?

The safest practice is to always order it yourself and yes, wait until you get it. That way you can see what the quality and the shipping time frame really is.

If for some reason you are impatient or you don't money to order things to test them, go by the seller ratings. Personally, I prefer at least 3 diamonds or any number of crowns if using AliExpress but one diamond is my minimum if I haven't ordered the product, myself. Keep in mind that you can quickly check a product out, repackage and reship it, too, which will give some lucky person a much better delivery time than normal.

Is this foolproof? Heck no. Companies can go out of business at any time and leave you hanging. It should be a decent blueprint to use that will cover you at least 95% of the time.
