Question about Google Trends for product research

Hello Warriors,

Anyone having experience using Google Trends for product research willing to give a little help? I would highly appreciate

If we take a look at fidget spinners, we know that is a dead trend looking from last 5 years and last year, but if we switch to 7, 30 or 90 days it looks trendy and makes you wanna sell it.

Each period of time gives a different result.

I want to know which period of time is best to select when looking for a trending product, and what other criteria to look for.

Thank you.

I'm not sure what you are looking at, but I see a flat amount of interest over the last 7, 30 and 90 days. Sure, there are minute peaks and valleys but overall, the trend is flat.

The real question here is about what time frame you should use to make a long term business decision, so the answer is to use a long term view of the trend. The default view shows a steady decline over the past year, alone. Back that out and do a search for the trend over the past 5 years, and you'll see a ski slope that nobody would ever want to go down!

So, are you looking to waste a bunch of time and money putting up a website that is super trendy and then having to build another one around another fad product to replace that and another to replace that one and another to replace the replacement of the replacement of the replacement?

Not my gig, but you can waste your time however you like. I prefer to build evergreen sites that show a nice, steady amount of searches for a 5 year period of time.
