Waze: An alternative to Google maps?
Ok. So I just installed Google Waze on my cell phone and I'm really impressed with the specs the app has to offer. It's an Israel based app which was eventually bought by Google for around $1.3 Billion in 2013 . Keeping that in mind, what I know is that whatever comes under the likes of Google ends up becoming popular among social circles. Overall, it was an exciting experience which involves a lot of pros and cons which I would like to share with you from my personal experience.
Pros
1. It's a community based app therefore it collects information from different Waze users and gives you an updated information of whether there is a traffic jam ahead or an accident.
2. You can set up a specific background sound associated with different famous Hollywood personalities. I love the voice of terminator!!
3. Also it gives you gas price alerts,location of police officers and traffic cameras so that you could lower your speed before getting into trouble.
4. Apart from that you can also add your friends if they are Waze users to keep track of each other. It's a perfect way to facilitate suuden meet ups by hitting them a message on the go.
Cons
1. It drains battery and data way more quickly than Google maps
2. Their layout is kind of distracting with different things popping up like restaurant locations, grocery stores and gas stations which totally disrupts the visual route.
Overall, I would recommend this app for all the millennials out there because of it's interacting features and range of exciting options. Google map has it's own place among majority of the navigators around the globe and guides you quiet perfectly in a very simple manner without any 'bling' attached with it. But Waze has now become an extension of Google empire which reflects a future trajectory of Google in modifying it's navigation app.
