Weebly is no more offering ten websites. This option is dead. You may try Webs, Wix, and others but you have to ask their support first before you buy anything. Also you will need to ask about the bandwidth cost if you intend to build numerous websites.

I host my website with weebly. However, when I paid for hosting I could only get away with one website. Of course you can create these free websites with Yoursite.weebly.com which is useless and unprofessional. You can do the same with webs, and wix and other site builders. Well, that's not what they told me, at all. (And I use only my own domains, not their subdomains, for exactly the reasons you mention!). I've hosted sites there for years, though, and possibly they're making different arrangements with customers who have been there for different amounts of time, or something? It sounds peculiar to me. I'm not suggesting you're wrong, but it does seem that we've been told different things, and the information given on their website certainly seems to match what I was told.

Since my website The PLR Guru is just new and before I upgraded to weebly starter plan, I asked whether the upgrade would cover other websites I created and for which I bought a domain name from a different registrar. The answer was NO! If I go now to one of my test-websites ( I have just run the experience ) and try to add a domain name that I own I get immediately prompted to an upgrade window with a message on top saying "You have a free plan. Please upgrade to connect you own domain" Well, May be for loyal customers who have been there for a long time they have different plans

Does it allow multiple sites?

Never mind found out. You can have as many sites but if you want the Premium , you have to
pay for each site. Could get expensive after awhile.

Im gonna play the devils advocate here and say that its better to go with something other than drag and drop, most of the sites that are build with those things do not perform well, they have a signature and a foot print that many search engines can smell from a long way off.

Im not saying that its totally bad, but if you really want to get into the real world of websites get your feet wet and take the plunge because the sooner you start to learn the business of running your own website the faster you can get up to speed and headed toward a more successful future.

You might want to take a look at Artisteer - web design software and joomla template maker It is a drop and drag system and you can use to export to wordpress and then use your plugins etc as you wish.

There is a free download, which is fully functional, but you cannot save your work, so you have to complete it and then export straight to the site or save out of the system, but you cannot edit later.

Pricing is $49.95 or $129.95 (I let you look up the differences) and that includes 1 yr updates. The products works after the year if you do not want to pay every year but if you update or OS or somesuch in the future you could get compatabiliy issues and then 'renew' your subscription.

How about learning how to build an actual website as opposed to using a drag & drop website builder.. what will you do when something breaks and you don't know how to fix it? Or you need to move it to another host and you're stuck...

There's too many people now a days that take shortcuts doing things.

For example, today - if you install a Wordpress theme, you instantly become a "website developer"....I think not, nothing more than a "theme installer".

I'd recommend learning how to build a site the correct way vs using a drag & drop site builder just to get by.

Another thought is Website Design Software (XSitePro) I have not used this one but know a few people that have with very good results. Designer says it is built for internet marketers.

Allegedly on offer at the moment at $197 so not cheap, but if it does the work for you.

(Don't tell people but I still use MS Frontpage from time to time, dead easy to use. I know code is blotted because it does not use CSS but if you are doing small sites it does not seem to matter, not all webhost support the frontpage extensions these days so only for basic sites. You can get copies via good old ebay)

X-Site Pro was great but the makers of the software have completely abandoned it.
I even have a course that I bought from them that has 4 months left in the membership
and I can no longer access it. Months and months have gone by and support has not

R.I.P. XSite Pro. It was a really great website builder with a ton of features, but it has not been updated in years, and support is lacking. I finally gave up on it and switched over to Wordpress last year, and haven't used Xsite Pro since.

Funny though, I still have a few static sites built with Xsite Pro that still bring in a few dollars every month, and I haven't touched those sites in over a year. I've lost interest in the sites, so I'll just let them sit there until they die, or perhaps move them over to Wordpress someday if I ever get around to it.

I know this isn't what you asked, and I hate to be one of those guys, but with just a little bit of reading and experimentation you can easily figure out how to use HTML/CSS and then you are in total control of what you're doing.

Don't let it scare you off! Do an hour a day of experimenting/practice with HTML/CSS and you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish in no time!

Then if you want a really powerful solution pickup Thesis 2 and you'll be able to control Wordpress in ways you never imagined.

CSS/HTML5 are not that complicated and you'll be learning a valuable new skill in the process that is guaranteed to help your business in the long run.

Webs.com is probably the best drag and drop web builder after Weebly that I can think of. You could also try Wix too, but I haven't had much luck with them. It really is much better to host Wordpress on your own web host, as you are really limited to what you can do and what content you can post with these drag and drop site builders.

Hey Tim. I would have agreed with this entirely a few years ago, but not anymore. I have many sites with Weebly (for myself and clients) as well as sites I have built myself, HTML, Wordpress and Joomla, and from my experience, there is no preference or penalty in the search engines for any platform - on the premise of coding (footprint) at least.

I have even moved sites from WP to Weebly (much easier for client to manage) and the rankings keep on climbing. It's simply all about the content. I choose the platform for technical reasons only, with no concern at all for SEO. I can rank any platform with the same strategies.

Although there is still some merit in learning HTML, CSS and such, this is absolutely NOT a prerequisite to making money online. In fact, it can be a hurdle - easily avoided.

Yes Alexa, there is a new deal that requires pay-per-site at about $4/month for each domain. Still a great deal with all that Weebly provides though. You (and I) were "grandfathered" in on the old deal where we could get 10 sites for the annual rate.

I know you're not looking for WordPress. I'm a relatively poor graphic designer, and I found Weebly to be VERY hard to use. WP was much easier for me. Are you sure you don't want it? It has SO many plugins that are really helpful.

i am actually considering the website builder niche profit classroom uses. it is $67 per month...but you get alot of coaching with it. they said they switched from wp to html many years ago due to security issues with wp sites.

We will have ours finished by the first of the year. It is a drag and drop to create landing pages (not full web sites). You can drag in different pictures, text, as well as create a variety of different forms depending on the information you would like to collect

Serif do a free version of their WebPlus software Free Website Design Software – WebPlus Starter Edition from Serif (not an affiliate link). You say you don't want to go with WordPress, however, the best (free) WYSIWYG web design software I know is Lubith Wordpress Theme Generator, Editor, Template Creator - Lubith.com (not an affiliate link either). It creates WordPress themes.

Download Kompozer and find some free HTML templates. When you're done editing, upload them to your hosting with FileZilla. You don't need a website builder.

The new version of OptimizePress is a Wordpress plugin and theme that has drag and drop functionality. It also is designed for IM with sales pages, launch funnels, member pages, etc.

I've tested a LOT of different drag-and-drop site builders.

Headway, PageLines, and Builder by iThemes.

On the surface they all look great (and fairly similar). But when you dig into them you realize some BIG differences. Especially in flexibility and ease of use.

My favorite by far has been Headway. It's like having your own lego set. You can create pretty much anything you can imagine. Sketch it out on paper and then build it out on the screen.

I have a script, which I can install on any of my websites and then just edit or create them right on the server. Its not WP, its a real website. I can log in to the admin from anywhere just with a browser and change anything on my website, without the need for FTP.

I found this amazing wordpress template called "Optimize Press" that is a very easy to use drag & drop website builder.

The downside is, it costs $99. You get three keys for that price, so you can only use it for 3 websites. This was fine with me as I was only planning on using it for one anyways.

As for me wordpress it is still the best. It saves you a lot of time in development and maintenance. I have been coding for 13 yrs now as one of my skills I sell as a service.

I still will recommend wordpress due to the frequent updates, access to wonderful plugins and themes, easy to move to another host and so many more reasons. I hope you make a choice.
