Scratching my head at an option I just saw. I just thanked someone for a useful post (in my honest opinion) then right after saw the option to remove my thanks. Why would one do this?

Maybe in case you thanked the wrong person or had second thoughts.

Ok that makes more sense than my initial thoughts which was someone getting mad at another and going back and removing their thanks. I think I need sleep?

LOL! I actually had to think about it the first time I noticed it too...how can you thank someone and then take it back??! But yeah, there are times you may want to, so it's good we have the option.

How about this... You thanked a person who "stole" a post or answer from another forum.
Time to remove your "thanks", right?

      Hi,

It never used to be there.

But the forum had a few sociopaths join up, and they would make a great post and get lots of thanks. Then some time later, they would come back, edit the post so that it was totally unhelpful and unacceptable and then make a new post to bump it back to the top - purely to embarass the people who had thanked them and cause dissent amongst the ranks.

So the removal option was added to thwart their karma-disrupting plans.

Wow Roger, I must have missed those! Now I can see why it's definitely a good thing. Some people have too much time on their hands.

Some people have nothing better to do with their time? I wonder how much advertising and sales they could have put out and received during the time they were being a bit wacko here? Some people ...

          Hi Traxmaker,

Perhaps my use of wasn't quite as informative as if I had used the standard

When viewing certain peoples' posts (IE mine) it's worth remembering -

Some people have nothing better to do with their time?
...than cracking jokes whenever possible - there is no more valuable use of your time, than to just have fun and smile. Although in truth, my joke probably has elements of the reality of some peoples' mindset within it - which just adds more reason to follow my 'fun' mantra.

Well you just earned a thanks from me for giving me a small chuckle. Its a bit early my time or else it may have been a bellow of laughter on that last sentence. Every since I was a child and I have no idea why, but just hearing/reading the word thwart makes me LOL. Your last sentence is one to be remembered!
