improve an older site

I have an older site that has started getting neglected and now after a number of good years, the visitors are getting too small to make an money from now.

There are a lot of great articles written by someone who knows what they are talking about, but not a whole lot in social media other than a couple of youtube videos.

Any suggestions as what I should try do before I sell or just let it go?

The niche is in home repair.

    Definitely don't let it go. An aged domain in the right niche can bring in some good cash for you. I would do some updating so it has some modern post on it. If it is in Wordpress, there are some Wordpress plugins that will put You tube videos on your site. You could create a gallery of videos on Home Repair. Of course you would want to give attribution.

    Then go to Flippa and post it and see what you can get.

      I agree with your ideas. I usually update the contents and try adding new things to the site. Also adding a good responsive theme may help to getting your site on the level you want.

    Home repair?

    My opinion:

    Contact local home repair businesses. Duplicate your website to fit their local (assuming the articles are as good as you say they are).

    Work out a deal for desktop/mobile customers.

    Create a bing advertising account, plug in some buyer keywords, target locally.

    After revenue is generated for local business, offer to sell the website to them. Rinse repeat.

    If you are sitting idle, doing nothing on your web -- you are 'slow-poisoning' it.

    Content is the king. Start creating newer better content that links your old content.

    Also, start building an email list. (THIS IS PROBABLY THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD DO).

    You can also consider outsourcing your work. Find someone that injects a steroid in your web!

    Is your site on wordpress?

    starting add to your site every week and on youtube as well... You Gotta Be Consistent!

    actively promote your site to other bloggers in your niche and submit your site to sharing tribes like:
    Viral Content Buzz | Social Media Sharing Made Easy

    be source to reporters and bloggers in your niche on sites like:
    https://www.helpareporter.com/

    because if content is king then he is an old man who needs your help....
