Any good escrow sites out there?

Hello,

Have been contemplating doing some work for clients (procured through cold calls). Are there any good escrow sites out there that I could instruct them to go to? Some kind of place that would "hold the money" until the work is done?

TIA

    Hi,

In Australia there is Escrow.com that is well known, if you want to do work where the money is held, why don't you do it through a freelancer site.

Freelancer.com does this and holds milestones until you are both happy.

Or alternatively you can ask for a deposit of 50% and then the remainder once the project is complete.

It really depends on how big the project is as Escrow fees can be high based on what site you are using.

I just had 2 concerns about the freelancer sites.
      • I heard that they could be like Paypal (where they can hold the money for a period of time for vague reasons
      • I had thought about the Freelancer site; however, they (such sites) tend to encourage low wages/fees for the work done. I would not want a client to see such fees (ex: doing a web setup/install/customization for $50) and then expect the same of me

I'd recommend you to use Escrow.com, they are the best in this realm.
