Anyone Still Promoting Products With Press Releases

Is anyone actively promoting either CPA, Clickbank or other affiliate products using press releases anymore?

I used to do it when I first got into affiliate marketing years ago and had some pretty good success with it. BUT since then I see the press release services are charging a lot more than they used to and I'm not sure if they even get indexed in google anymore (not news google but regular google).

I used to be able to create a decent PR and get at least a 100% return on my fee and sometimes a lot more depending on what the offer was for and if it was a recurring monthly offer.

Maybe your problem is the fact that press releases are generally not for the purpose of promoting CPA, CB, and affiliate product offers.

What was accepted in the past isn't appropriate today. Press releases need to be newsworthy. If they are nothing but disguised promotions for offers that will make you money, they will not be published or even accepted.

IMO, a press release is not a good fit for the purposes you've mentioned.

I use PRweb.com regularly with great success promoting Amazon products.

New products, models, and trade show exhibits make excellent news "releases".

My promotions have never had anything to do with Google or getting ranked in the search engines

News media have holes to fill 24/7/365 and millions of pages to fill in order to hang the ads on.

What myob mentioned are actual news. From there, he can link back to additional information (including "where to get").

I have a friend in the newspaper business. He's always saying, if you want to be in the news, send him news; if you want an ad, buy a f**king ad.

True... press releases have never really been a venue for sales... but if something is news worthy and they led back to the website they have produced sales.

When I was doing these I never crafted the news releases to be an ad. I would normally find a news worthy point about the product and then would feature that. It would drive traffic back to the site and lead to a few to many sales to make it worthwhile to pay for them.

Press releases and article marketing used to work better back in the day (pre Penguin/Panda). Things that worked several years ago do not work as well today.

      Fixed that for you.

I used press releases in the past but the results are never long lasting. Perhaps that's why many don't use it that much now for promoting products.
