Traffic sources/strategies for new SaaS? (stock inventory, billing)

We've recently launched our SaaS product in stock inventory/billing/crm area. At this point we badly need to boost our user acquisition and one of the issues is getting more traffic/signups.

My question to you: What are some traffic sources/strategies we could use for this particular product?

As a comment, we are currently working on:
- Adwords (expensive in this niche, but...)
- Long-term SEO (will take time, obviously)
- some YouTube videos that will be done anyway from our product presentations (not many expectations here)

Apart from the above (slow progress so far) we need other additional sources of traffic. Maybe the growth hacking/direct traffic/social kind, or other PPC sources. Haven't figured that yet though, therefore this question.

Any tips will be appreciated, thanks!

You can try YouTube ads to boost your videos and start getting some engagement.

Also Facebook ads would be a great place to start getting targeted traffic.

FB ads aren't suitable for our B2B product (tested). Besides, FB is better for B2C. I'd rather look into a different strategy for FB, maybe creating a private group and getting some momentum there.

As for YouTube ads, never tried that, I wonder whether they can be targeted enough for our niche. However at first glance, I expect our own videos to be more efficient as we optimize our copy and listing, rather than the ads delivered on someone else's videos. TBH I don't know, so I'll look into this, thanks.

LinkedIn might be a better source indeed, as it's on the business side. Never used Linkedin ads though so I wonder about the price and effectiveness, but I guess we just have to try.

      Makes sense.

The first thing any business does is set out the Marketing Strategy first before the launch of the software! looks like you have jumped in the deep end with out thinking of what to do

I am sure that the product is fine but would be worried that the product dept has not come up with some ideas on the traffic issues you will have

My advice is to ask the mods to move this thread to the offline part of the forum as there are some great experts in there that would be able to help you with the right advice on moving forward why I think this would be better there is that some of them dont venture out side of the Offline and so they would not see or read the thread

Well, it's kind of a mixed issue, it didn't go like that.

We did have a marketing strategy and tested it for months, however it couldn't be fully tested without a fully fledged product. This product doesn't straight convert straight but after some time and we couldn't measure user retention ratio. Signup intent was good, we were getting signup requests etc. But it's a complex product and user retention is a certain %, not everyone uses the product further.

Unfortunately we couldn't truly test product interaction and conversion ratio without reaching this beta stage. There was also a large miscalculation on our customer acquisition cost and the retention % adds to it. In the end, a few errors added up and basically ruined our initial marketing strategy, so we have to pivot now.

So we did our homework, only that it wasn't correct. Same result though.

Yep, missing traffic is indeed something to worry about. But it is what it is.

This particular product won't work with offline marketing. We're not geared towards offline and our business model doesn't function like that. Maybe in the future we will, with a different flavor and a different team configuration. For now we just need marketing ideas, maybe a little different as to how to replace our original traffic source and come up with signups from different zones.

      Thanks for your comment!
