Any Success With Direct Linking To Provider

Hi Warrior Forum.

I'm considering running a basic add campaign on face book at $5 dollars a day to get some data.
The idea is to directly link the ad to amazon with out setting up any middle pages to collect emails or add any up-sells. If it makes any profit I'd go ahead and ramp it up.

Has any body had any success using this method?

Facebook frowns upon these kind of Ads and most probably your ad will be disapproved. You are sending people outside facebook through this and they will not like it at all.

I thought the traffic would flow solely through face book channels not from outside of face book. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'l do more research now.

I really doubt anyone is going to pipe up and say they've had success with that.
I'm afraid you'd be helping to boost facebook profis if you do that.

A better option is: I'll use dog treats as an example.

    1) Find a trending video about how to make dog treats at home. Take a screen shot of part of the video that looks interesting with some text like "My poodles, just loved these treats she was sitting besides the oven 5 mins before they were ready" ...or something like that.

    2) Spend your $5 on showing that ad to peeps with an interest in love dogs/dog owners/ healthy pets ... etc and save that custom audience drop a pixel as your pooch prospects. Aim for CLICKS, CPC it's important. The video is just pure value for them and they appreciate you sharing. Noting to buy... but more trust gained.

    3) When you've 100 clicks or so and some decent reach in numbers .. 700+ then you can look at Creating an ad to an Amazon dog food/treat product to those in your pooch pixel - BUT I advice you DO add a splash page in the middle. you can use a decent free WordPress option.. not wordpress.com you can't advertise or sell there.

That way if you want to test facebook ads you only spend a lil and your audience will at least be more responsive and inclined to at least have a look.

    Hopefully Helpful

Thanks for taking the time to share a great answer. I've learned a lot from your reply. I don't understand the line "and save that custom audience drop a pixel as your pooch prospects." My best guess is to save the ad campaign attributes that point to that audience and add them to a second ad campaign as my pooch prospects.

Then perfect the ad until i'm able to get at least 100 clicks with a reach of 700+ then start to consider offering an affiliate link to a pooch treat product while using a splash page in the middle that offers something like a free dog health e-book in exchange for an email address.

Before you try this with Facebook, have you tried it with Adwords or Bing Ads first - just to gauge if the audience is responsive or not?

Hi Randall. Nope just asking the question to see if its possible. I didn't realise how many toc it would be breaking and that its basically frowned upon. I'd consider your approach before committing money to it.

Even if Facebook and Amazon were okay with direct linking affiliate links, it's a poor way to do things. Even if you get a click, you get one shot at making a sale to that person. With Amazon, they either buy something before your cookie expires or gets overwritten, or you get nothing.

Retargeting (google it) might help by allowing you to expose your ad more than once, but you still have the 'buy or die' problem.

If you can get them on an email list, you can contact them multiple times from different points of view and with different products. By focusing your FB efforts on list building, you also avoid the problem FB has with direct linking affiliate ads. Just don't put your Amazon links in your emails (another TOS violation). Use a website redirect or plugin to (technically) send the click from your website.

Generally, direct linking is never a good idea even if it doesn't violate provider tos. Best marketing practices suggest generate leads through free or incentivized offers. Then market to the leads systematically such as an autoresponder, telemarketing, direct mail, or hybrid marketing process using multiple communication channels.

Hi myob. Thanks. I'm getting the feeling that my question was some what more involved than I realised.

    The right answer is

    IT'S NOT A METHOD

It's wastin money til facebook ban you.

Ah, with 5 dollars.... you risk to not even make a single sale (facebook will ban you anyway)

Do lead generation and don't try to reinvent the wheel: what you think is a maigic trick is only a old way to waste money.

i have never done facebook ads before

so out of curiosity, why doesn't fb allow people to send ads direct to the sponsor site, as they're getting paid money for the advertising?

If I had to guess, FB came to the same conclusion that Google did. The relative chump change they get from affiliates trying to direct link isn't worth the abuse that would inevitably follow.
