'Interesting' Facebook Conversion Results

We have a few Facebook ads setup to target custom audiences to convert into a registration on our website.

Whenever the algorithm pushes to a number of walls because its getting close to the end of the day and there's spare budget we get registrations all with the same or very similar sounding first names. Stephen T and Stephen W or Rhys and then Ryan etc. Rinse and repeat. Often these registrations don't end up taking the next step and joining or creating a league to play the game which is the only point in registering on our website.

Has anyone had any similar experiences? Very skeptical of my results over the years. Only really just noticed it this year.
