USED VEHICLE MARKETING BUISNESS

Hey Everyone.

I started a business doing private party vehicle listing and online marketing.i

But customers are really sketched out about letting me market thier used Vehicles to potential buyers.

Is this a good online buisness strategy.

Or am I better off doing facebook or google adwords marketing for used car dealerships.

What sort of used vehicles? Cars, trucks, or Caterpillar earth movers? Why would I let you sell my vehicle?

Depending on your locale, could be afoul of the law, are you licensed? (If need be).

With eBay, Craigslist and local Facebook groups, where is the need for you?

Go back to the drawing board, and rethink your plan.

How long do you think people will list with you before they decide to try one of the major players in the space? Their websites get millions of visitors per month. Do you really think you can compete with that? They spend millions on advertising, too.

Not saying you shouldn't, bur it's certainly something to consider if you are just starting out.

I agree with what has been said already. Any time you do paid marketing for other people, it's important that you have direct access to targeted prospects ... and lots of them.

So I would simply suggest you think about how you are going to find and motivate buyers for those customers that want you to sell for them, especially in light of the powerful and widespread marketing that you see everyday (online, TV, radio, newsprint, magazines, direct mail) from the giants who spend millions on advertising.

To me as a consumer, there is great power in going to places like Truecar, Carmax, even Costco and others who can show me thousands of cars in an instant without a hypey salesman trying hard to sell me anything he can.

I'm not saying there isn't a private business somewhere in the car buying marketplace ... but I think you need to think more about your business model and how you can compete in this space with the giants. It's kind of like trying to sell books with Amazon on everyone's mind. You need to figure out how to grab a very small corner of the marketplace.

You are better off setting up advertising for used car dealerships using Craigslist, Offer Up, Let Go, Ebay and Cargurus.

So, find ways to make them trust you more easily . . . for example get social-proof such as testimonials (offer the service free or at a big discount initially, to get testimonials).

Or get major media citations, which add instant authority and social validation.

Your website, business-card etc. can make a big difference . . . make sure it looks professional, with a high quality logo and professional look, including legal pages (terms of service, privacy policy etc.)
