Is Quicktime as universally viewable as Flash?

I'm doing a lot of video for a continuity site and since I use a Mac, all my videos are Quicktime.
Is that good for most viewers around the world or would I be better off rendering them in Flash?

Thanks!

The last statistic I saw (dated about nine months ago, I think) had Flash player penetration at 99 percent of all internet-enabled computers while Quicktime penetration was at 64 percent. Unfortunately, I can't put my hands on where I saw the stat.

    Hey Mike

In general, the Flash video format is very good at playing as it streams down additional content.

WMV Format, Quicktime and Real either require a streaming server to achieve the effect or do not do as good of a job. While they've improved, it still seams like these other technologies are behind in progressive download.

I'm a Mac user too and although I personally like Quicktime movies, I convert all of mine to Flash just to make life easier. It is as close to a universal player as we are likely to find.

Flash every time. Streams better, smaller filesizes, much greater penetration. If someone doesn't have QuickTime Viewer installed, it's like a 25Mb download and then they have to install it!

As an Old Geezer I prefer the simplest way to watch a video. All I want it to do is have a play and pause button. Just so you know that is strictly my own feelings about it. If it plays and I can hear it, I'm good.

I have no scientific research, studies, surveys, bailouts or polls to back up my preference except plain old experience. And I'm a viewer.

If you can't do flash you can always export an MP4 whici is pretty close to universal.
