Hello all,

I would like to share my story and ask you for advice:

Three months ago, I bought a website for $6000 on Flippa where the seller said that it generates a few hundred dollars in profit per month (multiple of the site was 2.1). The seller lives in the UK, I live in Belgium. I made a very bad mistake, because I did not use Escrow for the transaction, but did a bank transfer (through Transferwise.com). I know it was stupid, but this is the situation right now.

The site does not earn earn revenue through Google Adsense as promised. We made a contract that says that he will refund me if there is a decline in revenue, but he is not willing to refund now.

Can you please help me and give advice what I can do as a next step? I have his name on the contract, but I suppose it is fake. I contacted Transferwise and also his bank in the UK, but they can not do anything. I'm thinking of filing lawsuit, but I do not have any data/address from him.

Thank you!!

Allowing this post simply as a warning to other members about not using a trusted escrow service for significant online transactions. However, the forum cannot offer legal advice. You'll need to take this up with Flippa and obtain your own legal counsel who will be best positioned to advise you regarding your options.

Sorry to hear of your plight.
