Deteriorating Health - Increasing Profits!

We all work from a computer - or atleast are aspiring to.

And why wouldn't we? The dream of working at home has been a goal for most of the working population for years.

But what is the cost to our health?

I know I've personally had health problems resulting directly from working on the computer for hours at a time.

I've got some back problems, headaches, signs of carpel tunnel syndrone and poor health from lack of eating. And I'm only 19, lol.

Granted, I have had some problems relating to back pain from playing soccer for 6 years. Headaches are also a common thing in my family. But the computer has only increased the effects of these problems.
I've also noticed, as I got up 5 minutes ago that I haven't eaten today. Or much yesterday, or the day before and so on.

I know I may be a bit of an extreme case, but what other health related issues have you or, someone you know, experienced?

This is sort of a warning to people who spend too much time on the computer. Myself included.

Your input is appreciated.

Cheers,

-Aidan.

Your health is so much more important than making money. What good is the money if you don't live to enjoy it.

It's all about planning your day. You need to work into your schedule a time for eating and exercising.

Taking care of yourself is a habit. It takes 21 days of consistency to form a new habit. Plan a healthy routine and make a habit of doing it.

Wow, I know what you are talking about there buddy. I've had some problems from always being at my computer all the time to.

I find it's helping if I take breaks and get a little exercise a couple times a day. It doesn't do much for my chronic tendonitis I have flare up once in a while..but, it gets a few kinks out of the bones anyway!

Sounds like you're doing the right thing by your body. Doing those exercises every few hours must really help.
I might have to think of doing something similar, especially if I don't get my bike soon..

Cheers for your response, and I hope all is well!

Yeah, I understand what you're saying. I understand it but, unfortunately don't put it into action as much as I would like.

I do make time to exercise everyday (mainly weights, and some basic cardio). As a present for christmas, I'll be getting a bike (bicycle) and will be getting back into my old habit of riding for atleast 10 hours a week.

Really do appreciate you taking your time to respond to this thread, and I will take your advice to heart. I hope others like me will do so also.

      Cheers,

    Hi,

I have been working at home as a transcriptionist for years and from experience, if you don't schedule time for exercise and get out of the house, you will go to pot. I'm trying to reverse the damage I've done to myself sitting at this computer right now and get myself mobile again. Too many meals at the old computer and not enough activity is a bad combination. Your still young...use some of that cash for a gym membership.

I'm trying to get myself up early enough in the morning to give myself time for exercise before I fire up my computer and do something for myself before I sit down every day. If you don't have your health, nothing else really matters.

    On a different note:

I like Ron's new avatar up top. I think guys look more manly with beards and mustaches. Two-thumbs up.

      Heya Seriousmny,

What exactly do you mean by 'go to pot'? I'm assuming it clearly isn't somewhere you'd want to be.. lol.

I've been seriously considering getting a gym membership. But having my weights here, and if I get my bike soon, I'll be getting enough exercise for me.

I much prefer to be outside riding. Than in a crowded gym, lifting weights and sitting on sweaty equipment, lol. Especially because I live near the beach.. in Australia. Who doesn't love the beach? .

Health clearly is such an important asset to have.. Thanks for putting that a little more into perspective for me (and hopefully the others who read this).

Haha. Indeed we do. Too bad the best I can sprout is a goatee.

      Cheers,

      -Aidan.
