What To Do When Someone Copies Your Site? *HELP*

As far as I know this is the first time someone has done this to me. I have a site up in a certain niche; the site is about 5 months old and is earning me decent (not great) money each month.

Long story short I came across a website in the same niche which completely plagiarized my "review" page....word for word. I tried contacting the owner about 5 days ago and haven't gotten a reply.

This wouldn't bug me that much except that he is somehow ranking higher than me for the main keyword and 2 LSI's...and I have no idea why. His site doesn't have very good on page optimization, less content and zero backlinks (according to backlink watch).

Obviously, this is very frustrating...does anyone have any advice or ideas about what to do when this happens?

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

A DMCA is the way to go. Go to domainingdiva.com about 4th post down and there is a sample DMCA and instructions that you can use. Worked for me 3 times now and it's fast.

It's a somewhat unconventional look (and not really me), but I am a somewhat unconventional type person. I really like the branding. To me it is humor rather than mean, but some say I have an odd sense of humor ...

This happened to me recently also. Those of us who write good content will have to be more on the alert for these kinds of thieves. Content theft is on the rise and Content Thieves are like the Internet's version of horse thieves.

Not every thief responds to warnings. Look up their who is information and see if you can find a web or domain host. If you can, send them a copy of your notice to this jerk.

Also, if your review is about a Clickbank product, copy Clickbank on the email as well.

Then, promote your site with several fresh articles - you need to build up more natural backlinks to give it more authority.

Most likely, the thief is too lazy to do anything to promote his site, so it could be benefiting from the Google dance. But, you can regain your rankings because you do have the original version, but you'll have to do some work.

    You could be flattered.

Then you could look to see if they are hot linking your images. You can have a lot of fun with that.
