I have been looking around for hours now to find RSS urls that can be added to wordpress to automatically get forwarded whenever I submit a new post.

Now finding the sites to submit to is no problem, what I have a problem with is the full url to direct the feed to.

EG, I have ... http://ping.feedburner.com ... as one of my automatic feeds that gets sent and not just ... http://feedburner.com

So how do I find the exact direct feed url for all the other sites and not just the standard site domain name ?

Anyone know of a list for rss urls and not just standard pinging urls?

Thanks, Spot.

    If you are using Firefox then its simpler to find rss link. To the right end of the address bar you would find the rss icon and the bookmark icon. This rss icon gives you the rss feed link without much hard work for the site you are browsing.

      This will only work if the page/blog has an "auto discovery" tag correctly included in the header code...Which is why it's important for web masters/marketers understand what the "auto discovery" tag is.

          Here is the actual html from a (wimpy) site of mine.

          <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS" href="http://foothillsweb.ca/rss.xml" />

          I have it as the last line in the head section, just on the index page, although some people include it in all pages. Just sub your site url etc. My rss page is rss.xml. It gives you a simple useful example if you want to look at the source code.

          Because of what Kurt mentioned, I just checked and sure enough the rss icon doesn't show in the FF address bar on the other pages. Doesn't matter much to me though because I have it included in the nav of most pages.

          best wishes,

      Just copy Lloyd's code and change the URL to point to your own RSS pheed, and maybe change the title to a keyword...Or, keep it as "RSS".

      Now add it to your pages in the header, the same way you would add a meta tag.

      Having an auto-discovery tag allows many RSS readers the ability to automatically add your RSS pheed by simply clicking a botton, instead of copy/paste the pheed's URL.

      It can also help ping and RSS directory type sites find your RSS pheed. For example, if you go to PingOmatic.com it asks for your URL and optionally your RSS url. If you have an autodiscovery tag, you can just enter your html url and ping sites will find your RSS pheed. (But I'd still enter both URLs, just to be sure.)

      Most blogs will add the autodiscovery tag automatically. For those using "plain" html pages and also have an RSS pheed, you should add the tag to all your pages.
