starting out my journey with passive income through IM... here's my approach now - how is it?
i've been dreaming about have a source of passive income through internet marketing for a while. i've also read a bit, not super extensively, but enough to have a basic idea of things.
i haven't really taken action yet, until now. i'm devoting multiple sessions a week, where i'll go to a bookstore or cafe, and focus exclusively on this pursuit. (i generally suck with not procrastinating and all that, this seems to be a good method.)
i have a couple ideas related to being successful in this field.
one is that results (money) produces motivation. if i work a long time without seeing a dime, i am likely to quit even if there may be money in the long-term, whereas making some money earlier on will naturally motivate me to work harder. with this assumption, it follows that i should go for making money quickly, and then when i feel i'm "in" (as in i'm going somewhere, and making money online is something i feel i can do) i can focus on true effectiveness. is this a good approach?
another idea, also related to motivation, is that spending time working on a product or campaign that i personally believe in or have interest in will lead to longer-lasting attempt. this is certainly true, but on the other hand, this greatly limits my opportunities for making money. so i am not sure if i should stick to stuff i care about and make money from that, or focus on making money so that i can do what i care about...
now on to the specifics. i definitely need to have some sort of roadmap, or starting point, or starting project... at least some sort of organization and clear action steps.
here's my understanding of my basic options.
1) affiliate marketing as an affiliate:
from where i sell:
- blog around the product, or blog with several products features
- a non-blog website with the product or multiple products
- a landing page.
- a squeeze page to get emails and late market to
- other?
how i get traffic onto my page or site
- SEO
- PPC
- article marketing
- email marketing or email spam
- other?
2) besides being an affiliate, i can create a product.
- a digital product
- or a physical product... certainly more complicated, even if involving drop-shipping
3) having a high-traffic page or site and serving ads like, say, adsense
are these my basic options, indeed?
should i cross out any of them as being ineffective?
which should i start with?
and what other methods are there?
then there are resources for helping me out. for forums, this forum seems great! for guides and such i should read, any recommendations? are there any specifically-outlined methods i can try out?
i guess i could update my progress on this thread. if i turns out messy, i can just post specific questions when i get stuck and can't find the answer elsewhere. anyway, looking forward to some guidance
