How I drive traffic to my blog... my 2 cents.
- Found a market which has high demand and low competition. The competition does not know much about SEO.
- Wrote articles which had 2-3% keyword density and had the keywords in the title and alt tag of the images
- I wrote the articles initially and later outsourced it to people who had more knowledge on the particular topic than me. How did I find them? I posted on my own blog that I needed writers
- Posted re-written articles on article directories and linked back to the original post.
- Outsourced directory submission and spent around $60 for that, but I am not sure about its effectiveness.
- Wrote guest posts on the blogs of same niche and linked back to my blog.
- I opened a google webmaster account, verified my site inside it and posted the XML sitemap to it
- When there is hot news coming up I post an article about it a week before in article directories and link to a post which does not have much information, only teaser article. Then when the news is released I update the post in my blog with actual news. On the d-day, when people search for that topic, 4-5 results in the first page will be mine. Mostly article directories and my own blog post. Other blogs which post about the same news on the d-day cannot stand against me... I already have backlinks and traffic from other directories. I do this 1-2 times a month and usually gives a big boost in rss feeds.
Summing up, I would say that its all about Beginner's Luck + Systematic Reinvestment of Profits.
I still have a lot to learn. I am nothing compared to Darren Rowse and other big names in this forum.
