Linking to Press Releases

I was curious if anyone has had any luck
1. Buy a Press Release
2. Submit a URL with the press release to directories

So for example, let's suppose you have a press release on streetinsider.com and then you do something to point links to the press release such as directory submission. Is this an easy way to move the press release up in the results?

    The problem with a press release is that it's time sensitive. Plus, you can't really write a press release like an article which takes away a lot of possible clickthroughs.

    Rather concentrate on ranking other content. If you submit your press release via good press release distribution services, you won't have to link build to a press release at all!

    I agree that's it's not worth it as the person above said, but you can get a PR to rank just like you can anything else, get links pointing to it.

    I am working on ranking other content too, and it is moving up. In this case I am trying to outrank older press releases with newer ones.
