How much $ is your IM time worth?

Just curious here...

Do you consider the time you spend conducting internet marketing in dollars?

How much do you think you actually make per hour?

What is your IM time worth? Would you continue it for $20/hr, $50/hr, $100/hr or more?

I think he was saying that if you added all the time you spend doing IM and divide that by the amount of money you make.. what would your time be "worth".

Or maybe I'm the one misunderstanding his question.

To answer that question, would depress most every single person here, as most of us think we make far more per hour than we really do. We have a way of thinking of time as "free". That's why there's all the hype on "free" marketing.

What most people don't take into account is that article marketing, backlinking, social networking, bookmarking, et al COSTS them money in the form of time.

Most people don't take the time to figure out that if they're spending 100 hours a month writing articles and only making $400 revenue (some don't even make that much) that it really equates to them working for $4/hour. And they still haven't taken taxes or expenses out! (it's actually significantly more complicated than that, but you get the idea)

So, if you use the example above... what's really happening is all that "free" marketing is costing the person $4/hour plus the opportunity cost of their time.

I answered it both ways, I dont think time for money personally.

If I did break it down, one my websites we spent 3 months total last year made a few thousand dollars. However that same site takes a couple hours a month and generates a lot for that. So if I break it down to dollar per hour, it would be moving up and up, but again I dont think like that. I think in overall results achieved getting me what I want and of course pay my time which I dont mind since I enjoy it. Hope that clears up what I meant.

        Cheers,

          Yo man,

Go to my page and read some of my recent posts. I'll say it again. Internet marketing in and of itself is not a business. The internet is an avenue to reach clients, no different than TV advertising, newspaper, direct mail, etc.

My hope is that some day all the the IMers on this site realize this before they are broke and broken because most are not even coming close to covering their bills and breaking from their jobs. My guess is that if most on this site REALLY were honest about how much time they have spend gathering information and aimlessly trying to make money, that they would be making pennies an hour.

You can pretty much assume every different marketing TACTIC online is not likely going to get you to your dreams. Its just one of the many ways the people who have mastered them drive traffic to their real business, which if they know what they are doing, they are then upselling you into high ticket coaching, one on one time, masterminds, seminars, etc. which is where they make big money with low time commitment, and live a freedom based lifestyle.

By no means am I saying its not possible to be successful online, but if you look at all the guys really making a living, they have been doing if for 10 plus years and know how to convert back end sales. Selling a few ebooks and refering some traffic to someone elses business, is just a minor attempt as starting a business.

If living the internet lifestyle is ultimately your dream, start burying yourself in finding who it is you most desire to help in this world and start learning to be the best at that. Find the most SUCCESSFUL people doing what you want to do and read, follow, contact and pay what ever it takes to learn from that person. That is the ONLY way to get there.

          Good luck.

          Tony

    mr2monster,

It was an open-ended question, but your interpretation is closest to what I had in mind.

Okay. So figure out how much time you would spend on writing articles, creating backlinks, social networking etc.. and divide that time by the amount of money you have made(especially after taxes).

I think that most people will find that they are making close to, or less than, minimum wage.

    Something to think about.
