"AS SEEN ON:" Better for conversions or worse?

Everyone knows that "AS SEEN ON: Clickbank, Google, blabla". Obviously these were good for conversions at one time. But I doubt they still are.

Anyone got some tested experience with this?

Should it be better to put this on or not?

I find it silly when I find a "As soon on google" graphic attached to a website selling a (most likely) clickbank product.

Obviously I just came from querying google about that product :|

My personal opinion - I won't buy products that have the graphic connected to their website

It still works well in non Internet-savvy niches like health, hobbies etc. My squeeze page conversion increases around 10% once I've put it up. Yes, it works.

Thats interesting. I guess it makes sense. What about the internet marketing niches? Probably worse for conversions?

I would never use it on IM sites but I do use it on some of my non internet marketing related sites.

We forget that just because we are more Intenet savvy than the average user we are a bit more cynical about graphics like these.

However there are still millions of people out there who have yet to buy online or are just make the off purchase now and again.

They are not as confident as we are and so as a result they find "As seen on...." graphics reassuring. they don't want to think that they are buying from an obscure fly by night web site.

It is a tried and tested format and I smile whenever I see anybody who says that they would not buy a product simply because it has one of these graphics on it.

Something else to consider. With the FTC (if you are in the USA) cracking down on fraudulent claims made for products, if it hasn't been 'Seen On', then it may cause a problem if spotted.

    Thanks,

    John

      AS SEEN ON: THE INTERNET!!!
      or
      AS SEEN ON: YOUR MONITOR!!!
      etc...

      That should solve that problem.

I find that "As Seen on Fox News, ABC News, NBC, HSN, Good Morning America, People Magazine, etc" works much better

Imagine what it'll do for sales once you get on Oprah.

Anyway, your list is legitimate. You were an invited guest author/expert.

The as seen on Google, Clickbank, etc. deal is lame. It's like the "As Seen on TV" products. All that means is that they advertised. But at least with the "As Seen on TV" products, you know they probably invested a lot of money into producing and running an infomercial. Not just ran a few PPC ads or paid the one time $49.95 activation fee on Clickbank.

People would be much better off if they followed your lead (if they are interested in long term success and legitimacy).
