quick mysql database help! -- I'm stumped

I've been changing stuff up in dbconfig.php and putting it in. how do I know if i am putting in the right username if for example my db is:


dbname:xsite_test
dbusername:xsite_bear
dbpass:eternity

is this the correct format? also if anyone can help me out for this quick fix, I can pay. just been bugging me. I'm waiting for my programmer to be free from other projects, so if i can get this fixed now, it will be a big help.

    ask your web host to restore that file... they will usually restore that file in 20 minutes or less, depending on your host

    That format is what most cpanel hosts use. Your particular case may be different though.

    When you create a database and user in your hosting account it should give you the proper format that you need to use. You should do it exactly how your host has it.

    The only possible missing item from your list is the "location". In most cases this is just set to "localhost", indicating that the database resides on the same server as the web server.

    In some hosting situations you will have the database hosted on a different server, if so the location should be set to the URL or IP address of that server. You host would be able to provide you this value.

      sorry guys, am still stumped. i'm trying to install a software into one of my sites. I'd love to pay something like $10 for this (i was trying to outsource it to fiverr!)

      Or just wait for a few hours. but i really want to get this thing down now. like hopefully within 2 hours because i really need it.
