How do I upload a site from Publisher to Godaddy?

Hey guys,

I am currently building my first website using Microsoft Publisher, and, even though I am only about 15% done, I want to upload it to the internet so I can get my father in law's thoughts (it's promoting his service.)

How do I do that? I have logged into Godaddy, but, can't seem to find an option to upload it.

Not sure if you'll be able to directly publish it to GoDaddy, or if they support FrontPage Extensions. But you could always just FTP the site up to your GoDaddy host.

Now for some advice - unless there is a valid reason (and I cannot imagine one) for using either Publisher or GoDaddy you should stop right now, before you do the remaining 85% of the work.

FrontPage was a great program - in 1997. Actually I'm kidding, even then it wasn't that great. In these modern times its about as useful as a typewriter or an 8 track player. It writes very poor HTML code that is bulky and often renders poorly on browsers other than Internet Explorer. And its is a slow method of building a site. And Publisher is even worse - its great for brochure layouts but not as an HTML editor.

GoDaddy has a well-deserved reputation as having some of the poorest featured hosting plans available. While many of us use them for domain name registrations most serious IM'ers wouldn't dream of hosting there. Having done a lot of tech work for many Warriors I have encountered GoDaddy hosting many times, and on every occasion have had to work around some foolishness unique to GoDaddy.

Why not do what most of us do - get some HostGator hosting and put up a WordPress site? It will take a fraction of the time that your Publisher design would, it would be easy to update and could have features that you would never be able to setup with Publisher - try adding a feature content slider or even a site search with Publisher.

Whatever route you go I wish you the best with your site.

    Bill
