What type of Squeeze Page would you choose?

Hello Fellow Warriors,

If you were given three options for
Squeeze Pages, what would you choose?
  1. Text-based Squeeze Page
  2. Video Squeeze Page
  3. Hybrid Squeeze Page (Text+Video)
This is an interesting debate cause there are
many variables which determine how successful
a campaign could become over time.

What's are your thoughts?

You will probably get a slew of people raving about video squeeze pages but I have had tons of success with just plain old boring text squeeze pages. I can definitely see the value in video squeeze pages if you need to show something in depth or technical but it seems to me that the more basic I made my squeeze pages, the more opt ins I received. Definitely something worth testing though to optimize your opt in rate. It's worth the extra time to find out.

The best type of squeeze pages I've tested are ones that include text and video. However, the text and video must be entertaining and relevant to what your visitors want.

If you produce a video with poor sound, poor presentation and just waffles on and on...you're better off using just text.

The reason why video works on squeeze pages because it gets the visitor's attention and explains to them why they should opt-in.

You can do this with text as well, but it's easier to show the excitement and benefit with video.

So if you're good with the sales copy, have a good script for a video with decent audio and presentation, using both text and video is very effective.

But you still need to test this. Maybe your video doesn't work well for your niche or maybe you need to brush up on your video skills before it will work.

It's like everyone saying article marketing will work in the long-run driving with driving you targeted traffic. It won't...if your articles suck and you haven't SEO'd it properly.

      Good luck.

This comment is on the money, test, test, test.

The audience in some markets is ridiculously subtle and impossible to second guess.

I am running a test a simple split test at the moment that is running at 16 % vs 21 % sign up rate and the ONLY difference on the entire page is the words on the "submit" button.

      That's 5 more sign ups in 100 !

For those that dont like video because its slow remeber that "fast" signup doesnt mean good quality prospects, I want people on my list that I have a chance to engage with because they are interested in my offer.

Your test is too rudimentary for your takeaway to be considered a valid point. This is something you've got to approach like you're writing a scientific paper. Meaning you need to create a large volume of squeeze pages using the same technique across many niches, time to experiment, put them all live at the exact same time, and most importantly you can't draw any conclusions till the experiment is over. I know it sounds excessive, but simple tests are too simple to glean any actionable information from.

      Hi,

Any of them will work fine, as long as you present a message to match the market.

Make sure that you have a compelling headline so the user stays on to read the rest of your page. Write something loaded with benefits.

Video can help increase conversions. If you are using an opt in form, you can do wonders just filming yourself and asking the person to opt in, pointing to the form with your hands.

It's a no brainer for me simply because the jwplayer is constantly buffering and so very frustrating.
I would personally however add more graphics to the text squeeze page just to catch your eye a bit more, but I am biased towards this type of squeeze page.

I am going for text based squeeze page. I think basic campaigns are better. People dont like video waiting time, it spoils everything! With text based squeeze pages, visitors can read exactly what they need to know. Yah know, cyber people are always in a hurry.

I think the option 3. Hybrid Squeeze Page (Text+Video) is the best..and why that?
You most conform for everyone needs, so the best option is to be text and video too.
Maybe some people just want to watch a video and others like to read.
If you give more options, people have from where to choose.
I think this is a "key" to a good success.

I like the video squeeze page. But really, some of the best ways I have seen lately is using a webinar about something cool for a niche for a squeeze.

Interview someone in your niche or have someone show a cool tactic or tip via screen cast.

Short, above the fold text based version. I want
people to make a quick decision. Subscribe or go
away. Even short videos end up distracting people
from the message you want to get across.

For salesletters I'd go with video though.

It will depend on the offer.

Make a version of each and test, it's the only way to know what's gonna work.

    Try them all.

Start with one, test conversions. Flip to the next.

If possible, split-test them with all of them running at the same time and rotate your traffic through to each.

Your audience will react differently than everyone else's.

You may be able to get a little insight - if your audience is video-oriented, then probably start there. (although you may find that the opposite text-only approach makes you stand out in a crowded niche for example).

    Test, test, test. :-)

So much is said about video squezze pages, om the other hand if a text squezze page is good then you have opt ins with it as well. I agree with Tyrus that everything should be above that magical line - that is people don't have to scroll down to get to you opt in.

There are some circumstances under which I'd be willing to split-test squeeze pages which include video, but all the testing results like that I've seen (all of which, admittedly, are now more than 6 months old, and I'm not talking about all that many to start with) have been strongly in favour of text-only squeeze-pages.

I suspect my business is a little unusual, though, because in all the niches in which I've tested squeeze pages against my normal landing pages (and that's only half my niches), the squeeze pages haven't done so well, in income terms. They get more sign-ups, of course, but that's different - it's what happens over the next year or so in income terms that matters. These things are harder to test than many people realise, I think: it's easy to make the mistake of assuming that building a bigger list is necessarily going to be a better outcome. My experience suggests otherwise.)

The first thing I do is create all 3 squeeze page types, as you mentioned, and split test them in Google Optimiser. Just because you like the look if it dosen't mean it will convert.
Once you have a winner you can then begin to fine tune by creating 3 more based on the winner, but change the headline, then test for another 2 or 3 weeks. Eventually you will have a top converting squeeze page for your particular niche.
I then end with a clearly deisgned Thankyou Page instructing my site visitor to check their email for their free gift.Bottom line is though Swarup, as other's have said just keep testing until it works.

I would keep it low profile, text based. Most squeeze pages are annoying.

Thanks for all the responses everyone. It is REALLY interesting to learn from all of you. I read through the string and tried to create a points system. If my math is correct, here's what this string says so far:

Votes for Text Squeeze Pages: 12
Votes for Video Squeeze Pages: 2
Votes for Hybrid Squeeze Pages: 5
Votes for Importance of Testing: 7

Come to think of it... In the last 4 years, I've opted into many text squeeze pages from recommendations that came from trusted people whom I'd already purchased from. Bonus videos, ebooks, tools and webinars.
Almost all my purchases took place on Sales Pages with Video.
