Do you think the Twenty Ten WordPress theme is good for building a large site?

I have been impressed by the Twenty Ten WordPress theme. Do you think the Twenty Ten wordpress theme is good for building sites with lots of pages, 200+? You can use it just to create pages rather than posts. It makes it simple to build menus and sub-menus, so you can have quick and easy navigation.

It also looks good and is easy to customize. How would you organize your site using it. There are also some great child themes available for it. Would you recommend this as a good theme to use? Or would you recommend any other free theme instead.

Twenty Ten is very useful wordpress theme as compare to other free themes available. It is easy to manage, so you can easily use it for a site with 200+ pages.

I have to say it's ten millions times better than "Old Blue" (the old default WP theme).

Normally I just install other themes once I build up something new, but I was actually working on one of my older sites the other day and started tinkering with it. I was pretty impressed. By the time you customize it to your liking (using the in-theme options, not by hard coding!), I'm thinking it could be better than 90 percent of the custom themes I'm using elsewhere.

I think if you have a clear organization plan to start, then use the custom menus and submenus, change the header picture, adjust the fonts, etc... building a massive site on this theme would be a breeze.

    Just my opinion.

    1. TwentyTen is an excellent theme and easy to customize.

    2. The number of Pages in your blog and the theme used has no relation at all. Whether the site can handle a big number of Pages depends on the host, the database, DB connections, speed etc. But never on the theme...

    3. Also, you can create Pages in any theme - that's again not a theme-dependent issue.

    4. Using the custom menus feature you can put anything in the menus, not only Pages!

    5. You organize your site (i.e. the content) not with the theme - but with your head Everybody should have a clear picture, and I mean literally a "picture" as in an organizational chart of their content's structure BEFORE looking for a theme.
The sturcture, the hierarchy of your content should determine the criteria you use for finding a theme.

(just out of curiousity: why do you think it's better to have Pages instead of posts? I can see only disadvantages...)

Wow thanks some really great answers from you guys!

I was going to use pages because I could take advantage of the custom menu structure to create an almost silo based structure. The menu is also very prominent at the top of the theme making it easier to see than in the sidebar, so I thought I would put the pages there. The theme comes with pages in this top menu.

However I did know that you could use the custom menu feature for categories and posts too. I may now do it that way now. Would you say that the best way of building the site is using posts rather than pages?

twenty-ten is a fantastic theme and it's really easy to create child themes for it.

The thing is, it can be used for any kind of site and a plus is the one-column theme file for pages so your sites don't have to look like normal blogs. twenty-ten is just nice and clean and modern. Love it!

I would rate it as number 2 on my list of fave free WP themes after Graphene
