Warriors - I need help - Article Writer willing to trade

(forgive typos please, I'm on a phone and it has a shattered screen) I'm just getting my article writing business really off the ground. I'm getting good orders, writing like a mad woman and I seem to have happy customers. Last night, my computer failed to recognize my harddrive. I am still under warranty, yay, but have to ship it to Gateway...boo.

Due to about a million things in my life sucking right now, this is my only chance for making money. Oh yeah, still looking for jobs, but due to the maliciousness of my ex and his god awful family, I don't think it will be possible to get a job until I get a lawyer. Long story and I don't care to share it publicly.

So now that I've bored you with my sob story, I have a question. I feel ashamed to ask and if this is inappropriate, tell me and I'll delete the post. I feel like a beggar and I'm not. I'm not at all. But I have an offer.

I'm willing to trade article writing for a cheap netbook. I need to be able to pick it up in a local store. I'm not asking for a Macbook Air or anything, just a cheap cheap netbook. I can write articles, get my websites up, keep looking for jobs, all of that.

My offer is 1 500+ word article per $1 on netbook. I have trouble keeping in with word counts - I tend to go over, but never under. So that's never been a complaint. I'm from Texas so I wouldn't say I'm a native English speaker but I do try to write well. I promise no yalls and aints.

I can't write them all at once, I will write 5 articles per day though. More if I have fewer orders. I'm staking my entire professional reputation on this.

I will also give a free, lifetime subscription to my PLR store. I don't have much up, but you will get every article I ever put up for free.

Wihtout a real computer I'm unable to move forward. No, there isn't one in existence I can borrow to be able to do real work.

PM me if you're interested. I'm really trying to make this a super awesome offer. If there's something more you want, I can install Wordpress and I'm learning graphic design. I will do any sort if beyotch work that you need. I can't take paypal to make this purchase, that's complicated as well. Please, help me. Help me do something to help myself. Thank you so much for reading this far, even if you don't answer.

I have a different suggestion... you seem pretty desperate so I assume you're short on cash, have no one to borrow from, no credit cards... etc.

I doubt anyone here is going to send you a netbook... that's a band-aid to your problem anyhow. On paper, it would seem that what you're offering far exceeds the value of a cheap laptop. I would go to your local library and use the PCs there. Offer your services locally via Craigslist and expand from simple article writing to content creation for web sites. Look online for local businesses with websites and pay them a visit. Explain how writing articles and blog commenting will build links to their site and explain how that will make them rank organically for more keyword phrases.

If you can write, there are definitely opportunities to make money. You'll have to bootstrap it, but there are far more effective ways to get by.

Also, I would explain to Gateway how their product's failure has seriously crippled your business and that they should give you a loaner laptop to get you by.

I was about to start building my offline business when this happened. I believe my phone has a craigslist app. I'll give it a shot.

As for the library, that won't work. No place to stash my 1 year old. I work when she maps and goes to bed. Her father has ptsd (undiagnosed) and a violent short temper.

I have a few ideas... how long will it take for them to ship you a replacement from Gateway? Usually it only takes about a week, plus shipping time, right?

No replacement - repair only. 3-6 weeks without shipping is what i was told, and I have to pay to get it there.

    danicat,

I doubt anyone will send you a computer - no offense, but this could easily be viewed as a scam.

I am NOT saying it is, but people are often suspicious, especially this time of year.

I checked Best Buy since they have stores all over the country.

    Sorted netbooks by price.

Found one for $179.99 and one for $199.99.

Could you purchase one of those or borrow that from someone, then put up an insane offer (classified is $20 here, wso is $40 as you may know)... make it stupidly insane so people HAVE to order.

Cap it FIRM at the cost of your netbook plus your listing fees. That way, you're increasing desire by limiting it, and you're truly just trying to pay for a computer you can use while yours is being repaired.

Just another spin on things. Hope it helps!

    Gary

P.S. - you could also search close-out stores like costco, sam's club in your area for one if you don't have best buy for example

Gary's right that many Warriors will be wary. I do get an honest feeling from your post, but even so, marketers are suspicious people. :p I looked up his suggestion, and it definitely seems very practical to me. This is the link to the $179.99 netbook... do you have a Best Buy in your area?

Do you have samples of your writing that you've done before? I'll drop you a PM, I have an idea that might help.

One more thought -- at about $200 for a netbook, you're offering to write 100,000 words. That's going to be really aggravating if you pick a netbook with a bad keyboard. Make sure you test them in store before buying.

EDIT: I worked something out with dani, so she's getting a netbook.

      danicat,

Well, I might take a chance...I have at least one Dell D600 laptop and a Dell C400 netbook laying around doing nothing. These are older (2005 vintage?) but have the operating system re-installed (windows XP and Office 2007)

I do need articles written and some PLR might come in handy.

Maybe we could work something out - I will PM you.

      Sparky
