Informational Blog Make Money?

I found a niche that has 33,000 exact searches a month, exact domain name (not a .info btw). The keyword value is just pennies.

The keyword phrase is clearly people looking for information on how to do something at home. Although of course there are products they could buy if they choose not to do it at home, hence where my affiliate links come in.

Anyways, do any of you have some informational sites that make money? I am on the bottom of the front page of Google and am wondering if I should spend time backlinking to number 1 or not? Ok, of course I should. But I was wondering what your experience has been with informational sites? Thanks.

    Are you tracking the ad click rates? I understand that if you are more highly ranked you will likely get a higher click rate.

    So what would it take to write the definitive guide you can directly market, by the way it's easier to record how to videos than to write a book.
