Best place to sell domain names?

I have few domains that I own for a couple years but haven't really
used and I was wondering the best place to sell these online. I've
checked out a few website that want a "cut" in the deal but I
prefer to deal directly--or should I?

Thanks for any help,

    Hi Ray

my first post here, but this is my area of expertise, I have been a domainer for 10 years so let me see if I can help.

    You basically have 3 choices.

1 The domain aftermarket. Yes these companies will want a cut, but they will handle your transaction for you. the main 2 are Sedo, and Afternic.com Think of them like a real estate agent, but for domains.

2 The main Domainer forums such as dnforum.com domainstate.com and namepros.com sorry as I am new I can't give you the links directly. If you sell here you will get wholesale prices, not end user prices.

3 Your third option is to try and sell the name directly to an end user. I don't know the domains you want to sell, but depending on the domain and the marketplace this can be your best route.

My suggestion would be to first test the water at the domain forums, you can invite offers and see if there is an interest in the names. You don't have to sell, but it will give you a good indication if what you have is worth money or not. If there is market demand, you can then judge the best way to proceed.

    Hope this helps.

    Dave

Sitepoint is the only place I have successfully used. But that was for a fully developed web site.

I've had some good experiences selling domains on eBay. I've made at least a small profit on every domain I've sold there, and some that I didn't even expect to get any bids ended up going for pretty high prices. It's all in what's valuable to the buyer. I also make sure anyone who bids has a GoDaddy account, or will get one, since it's so easy to push a domain from one GoDaddy account to another, whereas I've had problems doing this with some other registrars.
