Try all you like, blind effort does NOT = Success.

I've read many times of how people say that
by trying and working harder, your success will
eventually come.

"All you need to do is just put forth a little more
effort and you'll eventually reach success".

Well, I'd like to suggest that you take such
advice with a pinch of salt, because what I believe
to be the answer to success is not by applying
more effort, but by changing your thought process,
attitude and mindset.

Have you ever seen a fly that repeatedly slams
himself against a window, despite the fact that
the window opposite is wide open?

The fly does not see the other window is open
and does not have the ability to consider the
fact that there is a physical force that prevents
him from reaching the world he can see before him

He certainly does not understand that what is stopping
him is a window of glass and he DEFINITELY does not
realize that windows can be open on one side and
further down be closed permanently.

So if you find yourself slamming into a window when
trying to fly free into the outside world, remember
that you have more intelligence that poor Mr Fly.

Remember that you KNOW that windows open
in other places and that you KNOW that no matter
how hard or long you continue to throw yourself
at the window, you'll never be able to pass through
glass.

P.S

If this analogy makes no sense to you, I will be
happy to explain in real life terms and examples.

So next time you hit a window, instead of trying
to fly through it for years on end, see the opening
first then and just fly right through it...

    Nick,

    Great point!

I think that you do have to "take action."

But it has to be "educated action."

You can't learn strictly from info, (ebooks, courses, videos, audios, etc.)

Eventually you have to get up and start flying.

The knowledge will help you get to the open window.

But you're sure to hit some "glass" along the way that you don't immediately realize is glass.

And getting around it and finding the next open window is the key.

But you'll never know what "glass" you'll run into without attempting to fly to your goal in the first place.

    It's a balancing act.

You need good info, the ability to start flying, and the awareness to realize when you've hit some "glass" and the willingness to compensate, adjust. And maybe hit the "books" again.

This post must have been written for me.

I work very hard. I take action, educated action. It's been looong months since I've started but I still struggle to make a few dollars a day!

I've realized what I'm doing wrong lately. My copy & content sucks!

I've articles, blogs, sites, etc with attractive designs but the content & copy sucks. I always outsource my content needs (since I'm not a native english speaker) for cheap and now I realize that the quality of the content is the most important thing online.

When I consider giving-up, magically I see a sale in my CB account very soon. As if the God is telling me "don't give up!". Then I get motivated and keep working harder...Blindly!

I've many technical skills to create beautiful websites and create killer scripts etc but the lack of copywriting skills is killing my efforts!

Pls don't tell me offer web design services software development services. I won't do that! People want to get my top quality services for peanuts only for I live in a east european country.

      Hi,

Focus, focus, focus, that's what they say.

I read somewhere that if you are an idiot and focus.................
........... you become a focused idiot. LOL

Good thread, to succeed we must work hard at the right things.

      All the very best,

You are repeating a pattern of failure. You say you know where you are struggling and where you are strong, yet you continue to deny yourself the open window, even though you can literally feel the open air blowing in from outside...

...if you think your talents are worth pennies and you have no argument to prove clients otherwise, then this is still not where your strong point is I am afraid to say.

My sentiments exactly. Why focus on the things that will
not make you reach your end goal? Let others take care
of your weak points, whilst you grow your strengths.

Hey I placed bids on hundreds of software projects on rentacoder, if not a thousand.

I do my homework and sometimes spend more than an hour for my bid proposals with my technical solution but an idiot places his bid which is 1/10 of my bid and he or some idiot like him wins the project. LOL

I considered developing my own software products and selling them but then we start over creating the good sales page, content, copy etc etc....which I'm weak at... without them the product will be lost.

I´m starting to find out that to be successful is like fishing. You have to do everything RIGHT to catch a lot of fish. Sure everybody is going to catch a fish now and then, but it takes a hunter to catch lots of fish all the time. And if the Hunter can´t catch fish, then the fish cannot be caught and that is life.

I think with any adventure, you try things for a while, learn your lessons and then expand upon your knowledge or redirect efforts where you notice things working and then FINALLY stop doing the things that don´t work.

I think one major problem is that people aren´t really trained to navigate the world based on logic. They more live by tradition and belief that there are POWERS THAT BE who are actually in control, so it would be futile to try to change things up.

There is this idea about knowledge that there is a certain WAY to do things. It is kind of like the idea that everything has a NAME. You ask the question, "What is that?" and someone gives you an answer, "That is a polar bear." And you think you KNOW what that thing is now. You say, "That´s a polar bear." But the thing you see is NOT a polar bear, it is something you know nothing about and you will only understand WHAT it is after watching it and learning what it does etc.

So, in any persuit there is a tendency to go out and identify the rules for proceeding. In actuality, if you were able to look at the problem and KNOW your objective, you could form a solution based on your own reasoning. But it is difficult to look out at the world and to see it as it is. If you can´t see it as it is, then it is much more difficult to solve problems.
