How I made $512 with Fiverr from $0

Since I am not using this method any more I thought I would share it here because I've learned so much and thought I should give something back.

The reason I worked a bit with Fiverr originally because it presented me with a way to sell products to a market of buyers for $0. Now my method may or may not be super unique and it's definitely not complicated and you could easily take it to the next level i.e. get the persons email address and up sell them.

One problem however is getting the first sale at all. While it can be seen as a good place to sell things, the biggest problem is "How can you differentiate your gig from the rest?"

The way I did this was I offered another gig 100% free when they purchased one of my gigs. Mind you the gigs I offered were simple plr ebooks so each gig took me about 30seconds to complete.

This created some initial buzz for my gig and I got a few sales.

What I then did was probably what got me more sales.

I then told the customer that I would give them another of my gigs for free if they gave me a positive review. Generally I would usually complete the original transaction within 24hours so they were generally happy to give positive feedback whether or not they thought the original gig was any good.

I then attributed the constant success of my gigs to having 30+ or so positive reviews on each gig which allowed my gigs to rank well under there keywords in the "rating" column.

So simply I would suggest

1. Sell PLR Content or the likes
2. Offer an initial free gig
3. Offer another free gig in return for positive feedback

(and you could capture their email and try and upsell them in the process)

Hope this helped to those of you who sell or are considering selling on fiverr.

  • Wow this is cool.

I have also tried to sell ebooks on fiverr and it does work.

I only found it annoying that I would always have to go in and manually deliver.

I had it set that the customer would get the product immediately and they were all happy but fiverr always gave me messages that the delivery was late.

But maybe I did not set it up properly.

    • YEah it is a shame you can't automate the sale

  • I think this is actually pretty slick. I hadn't thought of doing much in terms of offering services through fiverr, but I do use it occasionally for simple tasks that I just don't want to do. I suppose if things get too slow it may be a good way to go. Thanks for sharing.

    • This sounds very interesting, thanks for the tip!
  • thanks for this tip... I have sold one or two things on fiver but not had lots of sales. mostly been selling backlinks and some seo reports. Maybe this will help attract more customers for quick cash.
  • Very nice idea. Excellent thinking.

    Thanks for the share
  • Thanks for sharing your idea .

I am sure your idea would help those who want to boost their Fiverr income .
  • hmm, nice idea, I have 5 gigs, I think this method would help me. THanks
  • I sold backlinking services on Fiverr but I didn't think about offering a free gig or upselling via email.

    Well worth thinking about.

    • I initially started with back linking but moved to selling ebooks as it took less than 2minutes to fulfill orders.
      • [1] reply
  • That's interesting! I plan to do that, too. I don't mind if it's not automated as long as I make money!
  • thanks for the cool post on Fiverr.
  • I had a really elaborate system set up on Fiverr that did about $50 in one day.
    • [1] reply
    • $ 50 / day ? can tell us more about this system?

  • Cool method
  • Thanks for the reply. Is a good idea, your method does not require effort.I'm sure this tip will help me.

I also have an additional question: books have been written by you or had content from PLR articles?
  • That's a very creative way to use Fiverr I love it when people come up with out-of-the-box methods!
  • Awesome stuff. Thanks for the share!

Great job... I love it! Great minds think a like.

Fiver is a great place to make some extra cash and it is easy to stand out and you don't have to break any TOS rules to do it....

    Fantastic A+++++++++++++

I see so many people doing sneaky things against the TOS of fiverr

This goes to show the others you don't need to sneak or break the rules to make money on fiverr...

Hats off for a job well done.

    x3xsolxdierx3x

Exactly another great example of making a upsell without going against the TOS.
    A++++++++++++

You can really make 75.00 off one gig without breaking the TOS I know I do it this also....

No need to break the TOS no need to ask for or give out your personal info...

Best fiverr thread I have seen

  • I like this idea - but could get time consuming if it's very successful.

But then 2 mins to fulfill orders works out at 30 x $4 = $120 an hour profit.

Not too bad when you're getting started!
    • [1] reply
    • I don't really see this as a bad thing, though? I'm sure there'll be many people out there who wouldn't mind making $120 an hour. You probably would have to offer lots of gigs in order to get that many orders, in my opinion, so the hard work wouldn't necessarily be fulfilling the orders, it's creating the gigs that can get time consuming.

  • Two questions:
1-How long did it take to get to $512?

2-I see a lot of people suggesting upselling, which I'm mulling around in my head... but does exchange of emails break Fiverr TOS? Seems to me that Fiverr wants you to stay on their site and if you're upselling different products etc, they wouldn't approve. I'm not placing judgment, I think it's a good idea---just asking if this is grey hat or what.
  • Just remember to give yourself long enough to fill the order in case you are going to be out of pocket and can't get to the books to send to buyers. Fiverr canceled all my ads because I happened to be out of town when an order came in. I told the buyer I would be late with delivery because of that but fiverr shut my ads off anyway. And then I couldn't put the books back up with the same subject line.
  • Excellent tip and way to think outside of the box. Why aren't you using this system anymore? Because you have a lot of reviews now?
  • rosegrower76

Offer a normal $5 gig, I use 20min time line for this.

lets say your upgrade is 15.00

Take three gigs and make each a part: part 1 gig - part 2 gig - part 3 gig = 15.00

Explain if they would like a bigger better item? I offer it in a 3 part gig.. Just buy each gig that will give you the complete better item.

No need to give out email...fiverr is still involved so they get a buck from each gig.

win win for you fiverr and the customer....

    hope that helps

    • Nice tips. I've sold one eBook on Fiverr.. hopefully I can sell some more.
  • wow thanks for share
  • Another tip I used to do for a gig I offered was to give them a "free" gig if they re-ordered again and gave positive feedback.

The gig was for backlinks and when I made the report with their links in it I would add a big text at the end telling them that I would "double" their backlinks if they place another order. I then hyperlinked the text to the original gig and encouraged them to click it.

This was pretty successful and nearly always resulted in a re-order, however I found that many people didn't read the report, lol. I deleted this gig because I got to busy and now have better ways to spend my time...

    Good Luck

    • Anyone want to see a picture of what I did?

      (It's a pretty cool method...)

Geeze...this could be a WSO...lol...but, it won't be... (so, not trying to presell of anything)

  • Now here is a damn warrior thinking out side the box.

Be different and creative, have fun and make money. Doesnt get any simpler.

Nice going there Jackson. There are even more ways you can make money on the backend, especially if you have a buyer. But I will not go into that here....you took the first step.. and took action. Man imagine if you tested these things everyday on fiverr. WOW...the mind boggles.

    Anyway congrats to you
  • One thing to be sure is that if you do try and get their email address make sure you ask/direct them in an attached file such as a text document and not directly asking them in Fiverr messaging.

Same thing goes with upsells, do it in an attached file not their site.
  • Ok, I really like the idea and that you are thinking outside of the box. Now I have a simple question of how you actually gave someone a free gig? Fiverr wants all gigs run through them so they get their $1 on the gig. From what I understand you don't get the user's direct email address or do you? How do you send them the free ebook?
    • [1] reply
    • You can attach files in Fiverr messaging. These can be anything from ebooks, .txt files or videos.

  • Fiverr is a great way to make extra money. I have been offering a a few gigs for a while and I can say, if you do a good job, orders will keep coming. It just takes a bit to get the ball rolling, after that, the positive reviews of your gig, will bring in more sales automatically.

I have also outlined a few methods that I still use today in a thread a while back showing people how simple it is to make money on fiverr. Here it is if any one looking for a few ideas for making money on Fiverr: Make $20-30 a day on Fiverr
  • Thank you for the inspiring post, Jackson.
  • Newbie question: what does "PLR" stand for?
    • [1] reply
    • No problem

      P rivate L abel R ights

Usually you can do with such a product whatever you like.

Some are restricted in terms of reselling the rights to your clients (maybe only personal use license included).

Always check what you are allowed to do.

  • I started offering some things on fiverr and while it's really small change, it's amazing how fast it can add up. The trick is to figure how to make it efficient as possible. I've wondered what were some of the best ways to offer upsells or get them on a list. I notice whenever I start typing an email (or even use the word paypal) fiverr throws up an error message.

So, I guess it's all in the attachments.

    Cool

  • Lol all of this talk and I'm going to throw a few things together and try Fiverr again.
  • Yes, quite an interesting tip there. I never thought about it, thanks a lot!
  • Yeah I'm definetally going to try this.
  • @jacksonriddle cool thanks for this inspiring idea
  • fiverr is definitely cool. I just found out about this today and I've already made a few SEO sales. Only $12, but hey its pretty easy money.
  • Wow. I need to change a few things around after reading this. I'm still going for my initial sales but I know I'll crack the code soon. Thanks a ton!
  • Thanks for sharing, I was wondering how to do that!

Thanks for the info. Cool stuff.
  • I really want to exercise using fiverr to capture buyers and put them into a sales funnel.
  • I feel like I see Fiverr all over this forum now... I guess people really are making money with it. Thanks for this most certainly very cool idea!

    • Yeah I think Fiverr may be a good launching platform for people to first test the waters in.
  • congratulations. Most sales came from the offer that you provide a testimonial. You have a good gig,it's trendy ! You have proved us once again offers sell very well if they contain videos
  • Hi - Nice idea. I think the way to get the email address and still stay within 5er's TOS is to put an enticing offer in your e-book. If you make it rebrandable as well, with giveaway and resell rights, then you're well on your way. There's an example of that here, no optin required:

    http://www.makeamoney.org/the7secrets.pdf

You can even sell that version on fiverr...

    Regards, Allen
  • Yeah it seems like video gigs are hot not.

I might make one and see how it goes.
  • Nice I got a sale after trying stuff in this thread.

    I'll try and upsell now
  • Jackson,

thanks for the answer to my question.

    Jennifer
  • Definitely original...
  • Funny, I use the exact same stratey! It works.
  • Thanks for the info. I've earned about $150 on Fiverr so far, but don't get all that much work from there. However, it's been a good start for me, and I recommend it to others.

For anyone with decent skills, it can lead to other things. Within my first week on Fiverr, I was offered a large contract doing promotion for someone's site. So it can be useful to make contacts etc.

    Chris-
  • This is great idea.I am opening my fiverr account.

    • Here we go. Also implementing the ideas from this thread. Let's see what happens!
  • Fiverr is a great place to make money online, if you don't know where to start. There are lots of people making nice money out of gigs that I would have never imagined. In fact, you might have a skill that you are unaware of, and it can bring you hundreds of dollars on Fiverr. Check the most successful gigs and put your imagination to work.

By the way, nice one BeachDude.

    • This is a great method! Thank you for sharing. I have put a few gigs on Fiverr before -- but with no luck.

This thread will definitely help me improve.
  • That's a pretty cool method to increase your sales.
  • Some great ideas in this thread. I don't feel completely comfortable with the original post, essentially "bribing" people to write a positive review. Don't know if that's against FTC guidelines or not.

But I'd have no problem with offering them another $5 gig in exchange for a post (positive or negative.)

Just make sure the first gig over-delivers and they'll actually want to post a positive review. Besides, if the first Gig is a disappointment to them, why would they want another free gig from the same person?

So you probably have nothing to worry about by just asking them to leave feedback and you'll give them another free gig.

    Thanks for the basic idea!
  • I am outsourcing work on fiverr to odesk its a great way of buildling a network. I had my assistant sign up on all the gig sites for me. Its working good!
    • [1] reply
    • Yeah didn't think of trying to cross sell services on odesk and Fiverr. Could work well either way
  • AWESOME

  • @jacksonriddle, when you say- Sell PLR Content or the likes. How exactly do you mean and where do you get your plr ebooks from? Is it that you bundle plr articles into an ebook and sell or you just look for any plr ebook and sell without changing the content.thanks.
  • Offering a free gig???
