Warriors,

I have been looking around over the last few days to see if there is any strong rival that is able to stand up to Paypal and compete. It's important to have other options but sometimes even that is not enough to gain the trust and respect of your customers.

QUESTION: Has anyone been able to find a company similar to Paypal that is NOT AlertPay? Also, does anyone know what happened to Storm Pay?

*** If you have aother online processors that you believe to be OUTSTANDING... please list them here as we are shopping around.

PayPal is good but I keeep hearing that other people are still having problems with them.

Cheers,

You don't have to worry about paypal or similar companies. You can surely do without them. Just go for a processor like 1shoppingcart. Lots of hugely profitable online companies don't accept paypal so you're in good company.

The reason why most people cant live without paypal is because their business revolves around selling ebooks and making WSOs.

Amazon Payments is pretty similar, except for the fact that they don't currently offer a debit card for instant withdrawal. I started using them recently and have been happy with them so far.

I believe I've heard good things about Plimus. Really though, if you want to have some more options available to people, you'd have to look at getting a merchant account. They aren't that expensive, I threw together a spreadsheet with some of the major ones and it generally works out to $40 to $65 per month, with 100 transactions in.

From what I remember, Global Payments and Internet Secure both have very reasonable prices per month and per transaction, and have transparent integration options for your site.

Lots of people mention Authorize.net, but it seems to me that they really nickel and dime you for essential services (such as fraud protection).

Great feedback. Much appreciated. I have heard of Plimus and believe I just got a sale from the Netherlands yesyerday in my acct but it seems like they said it would be like 2 months before I got paid on it. That's a while.

Why would you not use Paypal or AlertPay? Are you trying to segregate away ALL your potential customers?

If you aren't using PayPal you are losing business, same with AlertPay. Just don't be an idiot and screw up your account.

Did not say we are not using paypal... every business needs options.
Paypal still works for us but it's time to keep looking around. There can
always be issues with companies or policies changing.

Now, for alert pay. Experienced marketers are reporting that Alert Pay
conversions are a lot slower then Paypal. Also, I might add... Some do not
trust alert pay like they do paypal. It will be nice to know when a rival
comes along to compete with paypal that others will trust as much.

I used Plimus for a bit and found it an absolute nightmare to setup. Just so many fiddly bits you have to configure just to sell one simple product. It was no where near as easy to use as Paypal is.

    http://checkout.google.com/ is similar
Plimus is attracting a lot of the scammy 1 click products because I get the impression it's harder for people to refund on Plimus so the scammers are setting up an email address for refunds that they don't really check
A merchant account is best I use Merchant Credit Card Processing Account | Merchant Accounts with PowerPay they focus on internet marketers selling info products
2CheckOut is similar to a merchant account and may be easier to get

You are very wise to investigate paypal alternatives in advance of needing them.

You may never have any Paypal problems and that's great but I'm a firm believer in never placing all of your eggs in one basket.

If you don't want to sign up for your own merchant account. 2checkout and google checkout would be my choices.
